OCD is known to wax and wane in relation to stress and stressful life events, and (sadly) even if a person who has OCD finds complete freedom, it's only known as "remission" meaning, that relapse is always possible, but only really does so during stressful life events (which is what you seem to have experienced). Are you currently, or have you ever, seen a professional (therapist, psychiatrist)?

I see. Yes, same here, in that in the dark times it feels like all my tools and knowledge goes out the window. But! We just have to find a way to get those tools and knowledge solid in our brains, so that it happens less, which seems can be accomplished through consistency. Now as for the therapist, I would strongly suggest seeking one out while your in the beginning stages of remission, before the OCD gets a chance to really affect your life. I saw my first therapist a few days ago (have been dealing with the worst of my OCD for 8 years) and I wish I got therapy forever ago? here are a few resources that can help. https://iocdf.org/ocd-finding-help/find-help/ I suggest starting here. The therapists are specially trained in OCD. If you can't quite find one there that fits, then I recommend checking out https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists you can filter for OCD and other specializations. Now, if you've exhausted all those options and find you can't find one in your price range (since you mentioned costs) there is an app called BetterHelp which costs $40-$70 a week (billed monthly) and could be a good option for your pocket book, though I am unsure of their credentials in OCD (but some help is better than no help). You've beat this monster once before, and you can do it again!

Do you remember what med you were on? You can try to get the generic version of it, which is dramatically less expensive, plus you can use https://m.goodrx.com/ to find the cheapest price around you. If you need a psychiatrist fast, you can use https://livehealthonline.com/ to see one very fast (usually same day).

Yeah, I'm currently on the SSRI wagon trying to find the right one (am on fluvoxamine rn and unfortunately no effect after 12 weeks?) but, I will keep trying! Check these links out https://m.goodrx.com/bupropion bupropion is the generic of Wellbutrin https://m.goodrx.com/clonazepam clonazepam is the generic of klonopin. All the prices seem to all be below $25 for a months supply (at least in my area FL). Now, I will say, if you're looking to get the Klonopin, then do not use the LiveHealthOnline link I gave you, because since they are an online psychiatry, they cannot prescribe scheduled drugs (which Klonopin is).

You are welcome!? Yeah, I've heard that, tbh I was hoping that the first one I tried work? but I've read hundreds of reviews on all the different SSRI's for OCD and I see that people get DRAMATIC relief from them, so it gives me hope to keep trying. One more link I will share is this https://ocdtrial.org/ it is a new study on a new drug for OCD. It works differently than SSRI's and SNRI's in that it affects the glutamate in the brain( which new studies have found contribute to OCD). The study is completely free, and they give you all the medical facilities and resources during the study (which lasts 3 or more months). Give it a shot maybe, there could be a facility right near you! (I messaged them myself yesterday!)

You are welcome, again☺️ Yeah, it kinda sucks that the pills aren't consistent with people, but hey, having the option for pills is better than no option at all (which those who suffered in the past had to go through, poor souls?) Well, I'll tell you one thing. While you are going through the brunt of this for now, me and many more people on this site are always here and are just a click away! So, never hesitate to ask for assistance or to just vent. We all here are going through similar situations, so we are in the same boat, in a way.

I’m 26 now and was seeing a therapist on and off since I was 14. She still answers my messages once in a while but she’s so expensive I can’t even afford to go to her consistently so unfortunately I have to find someone else. I have all the tools I need and have much knowledge of OCD but when I’m really down any tools and knowledge go out the window and I’m like a helpless paralyzed person

Thanks! Ill check it out. One other problem is I was on medication. I moved to Dubai and weaned off and now I’m back in NY. I have no insurance yet as I just started working. And I work 2 jobs 7 days a week so I get out of debt. So it’s been hard with all this stress and wanting to get meds. I’m surprised I’m functioning. I hope to be better one day after I get on my feet.

I was on a cocktail of adderall, Wellbutrin, and klonopin. A lot of SSRIs didn’t work for me and this is what helped me focus. My mom does not support adderall so she told me to move out if I go back on which I can’t afford to do right now. Even generics can be costly without insurance so I have to suffer for at least a few more months. I’ve been using cbd oil and sometimes wine to sleep which isn’t good. I need to go back to meditation but mentally I’m just not strong. I also am smoking cigarettes again which I hate because I’m harming my body. I’ll be fine and then at night before I go to bed I’ll think of something and then have trouble sleeping. Then I have to somehow function to work the next day. I’m suffering ?☹️

I’ll check it out, thanks again! Yeah, meds affect everyone differently. No one has the same brain chemistry. So what might work for one person may do nothing for another. My friend swears by lexapro and when I tried lexapro I had a horrible reaction. It’s frustrating but worth it when you find the right one. When I was on my dads insurance life was easier. My copays were 10 bucks and easy to just try different meds but I’m in a different situation now.
