luvox gang?

just curious if anyone is taking luvox for ocd? i’ve been on it for about two years, got off once during that time because of libido issues and tried welbutrin. that made my ocd spiral out of control. specifically existential ocd, caused me to disassociate the whole week i was on it. i got off and back onto luvox and now it’s almost been a year again. so i noticed im better but now as good as i was when i started the first time. i’m on 50mg and im wondering if i should ask my dr to increase? does anyone else take it what mg and if you got it increased did it help at all? thanks!!!

I tried 100 mg Luvox didn’t work for my ocd switched to Effexor it’s amazing

@Iloverowdy12 i’m so happy you found something that worked for you!! that’s amazing. i’m scared to switch again cause of my experience last time, however if increasing doesn’t help i’ll talk to my dr about this. thank you!

Hello friend. I’m on Luvox for one year now. I am taking 250mg per day. First of all, it has helped me a lot, I’ve seen a 50 percent improvement. Some periods up to 70 percent. Not a doctor, but yes, I’d talk to your doctor about increasing it. 50 is only the starting dose. PS I haven’t seen major side effects. I just wish I got more and consistency 70-80 percent…and I’ve asked my doc about going to the full 300 and she doesn’t want me to. I also supplement with Buspar 7.5mg. I’ll follow you so we can stay in touch about our Luvox journey.

@Anonymous I learned that OCD requires higher doses. So, after 6 weeks at 250 I found relief. At the worst I’m 40-50% improved, at the best I’m 70-80% improved. I have discussed going up to 300 (max) but my doc doesn’t want to in case we need some extra room in the future.

@Joey_867 That is what I am worried about too, I don’t want keep upping the dosage because eventually I will hit the max. I am thinking of going to 200mg, life at 150mg is not fun with all the intrusive thoughts

@Anonymous I get it. Totally. On the other hand, I do supplement it with Buspar (helps with anxiety). The combo seems to really help. But, give it a solid 8-12 weeks to assess it. Can’t up it for one week and say it doesn’t help.

@Joey_867 my doctor said the same! need to give it more time before increasing. The only other meds I take is klonipin but I try to take that as little as possible given its addictive nature.

@Anonymous Feel free to follow my posts to keep in touch. I would be curious to see how you’re doing. I relied on Klonopin for the time I was ramping up too (I was taking it two or three times a day for 3 months or so). Even on days that are my toughest now, I don’t need it. That’s a good gauge for me. I haven’t taken one since September. I have gained weight, but I needed to. I’m trying to find a balance now. My evenings are great and my mornings are challenging (usually). I believe it’s the high cortisol levels that cause that in the morning. I go for a jog with my dog and burn it off. Exercise and family time helps me a lot.

Medication Questions

Hi all! I am on Zoloft 100mg and I was hoping to get some feedback! My biggest fear is being suicidal and sometimes I’m like checking to see if I am suicidal on the medication but then I think maybe it’s my ocd. My doctor wants to go higher but I’m wondering if this is a good idea based on my thoughts. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Luvox + Buspar

Has anyone else taken Luvox? How long did it take to work? I'm on day 26 or 27 and I am not feeling better. I almost feel like I've been worse. my psych says it takes time and I'm likely not worse, just need time for it to adjust but im scared. Ive been taking 75mg because we went from 25 to 50 to 100 and that seemed like too much so we went back to 75 and now we are going back to 100. We are also adding Buspar three times a day so hopefully that does something. Idk, I am trying to hold out but yesterday was so bad, I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital or inpatient care somewhere.

OCD and Zoloft (Sertraline)

Hi everyone, I’m new to the community. I was diagnosed with OCD just a couple of months ago and have been doing some reading and other research to try and understand the disorder. With this, I have been actively seeing a great therapist who has been helpful to build tools to deal with my intrusive thoughts ( contamination OCD is my worst theme). Do help learn to deal with the compulsions, I start on Sertraline or “Zoloft” I believe since November 2024. Currently I’m on 50mg and have been doing this for just over a month. My question for those who are also taking Sertraline and it has been successful, how do you know it has really provided a benefit and how long did it take to get there? I sometimes feel the medication works, and sometimes I feel it doesn’t (maybe that’s my OCD trying to mess with things). Thanks!
