It is scary stuff for sure; I used to struggle with this as well. I would love to help you out if I can, but I have a question first: how do you believe a person gets to Heaven? If I want to go to Heaven when I die what would I have to do to make that a reality?
@Afterman You have to believe in god and live by his rules daily and follow the Bible go to church read the sins in the Bible and not commit them and teach others about Jesus and God
@Blueberrycows It can be tough opening up to a stranger about your religious beliefs, so I applaud you for responding! I still think I can help, but I have a few more questions first. Let’s say that I am the sort of person who believes in Jesus but occasionally I miss church because I love sleeping in on Sundays. Do you think that I would get into Heaven? Or would God say I’m not allowed in because I didn’t go to church enough?
@Afterman I think he wouldn’t be happy that you didn’t go but I think he would still accept you into heaven because he is all forgiving just as long as it is not a on going issue
@Blueberrycows Gotcha. One last question: do you know what the word “holy” means? It’s said a lot in church but I have found that most people only have a vague understanding of it.
@Afterman A person that praises god ?
@Blueberrycows Holy essentially means something that is so good and perfect that it must be kept separate from imperfection. For example, if I had a bottle full of absolutely 100% perfectly pure water and I put anything else into it, then that water wouldn’t be perfectly pure anymore. Or another example: if I heard about a church that was full of completely perfect people I would stay away because I have flaws and as soon as I showed up it wouldn’t be a perfect church anymore. Holy is a term often used to describe God because He is absolutely good and perfect and He separates Himself from imperfection because if He didn’t then He wouldn’t be perfect any longer. When He created the world the Bible said He made called all of His creation good. But humans took a course of action that was in direct defiance of Him and His character. In doing so they became imperfect and thus needed to be separated from the perfection of God. So we today are now separate from God and we have a choice: remain separate (which is what Hell is), or join Him once again in being holy and live with God forever (which is what Heaven is). God loves us so much that He won’t force us to be with Him forever if that’s what we don’t want. But how do we become perfect and holy again? Well since we are imperfect beings almost anything we do will be imperfect, especially our attempts to become perfect holy. So it’s not possible in our own strength and ability. Which is why God came to Earth as a man named Jesus. He took all of our evil and imperfections upon Himself and destroyed them forever. All we have to do is believe He did this and accept His sacrifice on our behalf. That’s it. It is the lowest possible barrier of entry of any major religion or belief system. Now the question arises: what else do we have to do? Well if you believe that Jesus took away our sin, then we certainly ought to try our best to not sin anymore. And we should definitely try to understand Him better by going to church and reading our Bibles. He also commanded us to tell others about His work on the cross. So all that is good and something we should strive to do for sure. However: those things don’t make you more or less likely to go to Heaven. If you believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection atones for your sins but you never attend a church service a day in your life you can still go to Heaven. It’s not your church attendance that saves you, it is just Jesus. You can believe in Jesus and never once read the Bible in your life and still go to Heaven. It’s not the amount you have read that saves you, it is just Jesus. I can’t add to what He did on the cross and I can’t take anything away from it. All it takes for someone to get to Heaven in believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. That’s it. If you truly believe, then you will desire to do what he asks of you and you’ll try your best to be good, love others, go to church, etc. But if you fall short (and you will) you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it because that’s literally the reason He came to Earth in the first place. Jesus + Nothing = Everything I hope that helps. I’ll be glad to answer any other questions or concerns you may have. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.
I genuinely feel like this terror inside myself, like this is my last day till everything gets horrible… idk suddenly I have this anxiety this “fear of nothing” makes me feel like I’m not gonna make it, that I will never feel okay and that my life is over. I’m scared, I’m always scared
im scared. I keep compulsively praying for bad things or death on the people I love. I don’t understand why. It doesn’t make anything better. I’m scared that these prayers count. I seal them as I do with most of my prayers in Jesus name and with a double amen. I’m scared God will want to teach me a lesson and make something come true. I’m scared I mean these prayers, I’m petrified. If something happened, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself :( I don’t know where to go from here
I’ve been worried that I will go to hell and have lost a lot of my interests, personality and even music I like . I don’t know who I am anymore
