Reassurance seeking is a compulsion. Doing this compulsion will only worsen your doubts.

@Jay222 Reassurance seeking is a major compulsion of ocd. If you enjoy it it's not ocd. If it gives you mega anxiety and you feel a drive to do compulsions to ease the anxiety then certainly it's ocd. Learn to sit with the discomfort and not engage with the thought. I've learned in ERP for POCD that I don't have to like OR agree with the thoughts in order to radically accept them. Trying to dissect the thought will only lead to more doubt and more compulsions and compulsions fuel the obsessions. I've always known that my thoughts are not me and I've learned to label the intrusive thoughts as such and not respond to them. I've always known in my 2 years of struggling with POCD that it goes directly against my moral and values and these thoughts are just a product of bad circuits in my mind and im still learning and getting better at no longer giving ocd the upper hand through ERP and icbt

@Jay222 Just say maybe maybe not or I don't need to figure this out and sit with that discomfort. Currently you are reassurance seeking and anyone actively responding to your doubts is engaging in that compulsion with you. There's a mega difference between a pedophile and POCD. Knowing that alone and differentiate yourself from it is so important

this is a common experience for people with OCD. I have dealt with POCD for 4 years, and there have been times where my thoughts are so convincing it feels like I have become what I fear. you aren’t the only one experiencing this.
