Is horrible when a thought feels so real and the need to do something feels like valid. Because I have to go against it and accept the uncertainty is really scary. I really hope that, with time, it will became more easy

I hope you don't mind me asking, but I don't have OCD, and I'm trying to understand it better. When you mention uncertainty, I interpret it as having two possibilities: positive and negative. For example, if I say I'm not certain I'll finish writing this post, it means there's a significant chance I will complete it, and a smaller chance I won't for some reason. However, when reading posts by individuals with OCD, it seems like they focus only on the negative possibility rather than considering both balanced possibilities. Which is to me is not uncertainty they are talking about, rather it is pessimism. Is my understanding correct?
I am going to try to explain with an example. For example you had a really stressful day,you take your car to go to your home and you are really tired so when you arrive your house then a thought came to your mind "what if I run over someone and cause I am really tired I didn't knew " The posibility of this is really small but you feel that it is a real concern, maybe you know that 2 days ago the same thing happen and you did the same route just to check and nothing happend. Althought you can objectively see the patron, the anxiety it is so much that it is not feel like that. So acept the uncertainty, at least in this example, consist identifying the situation and not check becauase this will not solve the problem and to acept that posibility that you fear is true and also acept that can not be. Obviously someone who dont have this problems will not understand how you can doubt about it but someone with OCD just knowing that the negative posibility can be true (even it is really difficult) scared them so much that they need to do something about it
@🌊Anonymous🌊 The brain then knows that if a situation that cause you so much anxiety can be reduced doing a compulsion, it create a connection that always repite when you have this anxiety. At the more you do it the harder it will be to quit and not do the compulsion

Your example reinforces my assumption that for someone with OCD, even the slightest negative possibility can have a significant impact, especially when it involves something important to them, whether it's moral, religious, or related to their children...etc. For instance, in your example, another person might feel relieved that they avoided punishment, but I imagine that would be unacceptable for you. So it is not just being pessimistic. It is because the thought touches something so dear they won't take chances, and hence think and act on the pasimistic ( worst) possibility. Is that correct, or do you have a different perspective?

This situation just happened and I can definitely remember how it went but my brain is telling me otherwise and I know you guys said to sit with the uncertainty but what if the intrusive thought is so bad like disgusting, I can’t sit with that. Maybe it’s false memory but this just happened. I don’t even know how to live with this
Is ocd supposed to feel like a genuine belief ? I see or hear some people saying things like « I know it’s not true but …. » while I personally don’t « know that it’s not true » I feels genuinely real and I even find evidence for it
I have really bed harming intrusive thoughts and sometimes feels like it’s feeling! The thoughts happening every day and the hardest part is that I’m testing my self in head all the time if that’s what I am or want!!! Also, so many times feels like I’m been tricking myself and doctor or people and maybe I don’t have OCD, just that maybe it’s me really!!!! How can I know who I am really 🥹???!!??
