I’ll give you some tips: 1.) when you have a fear pop up , tell yourself that your brain is misfiring. This takes the seriousness out of it. Not at all saying your fear isn’t serious , because it is. What I am saying though is that relabeling it as just brain chemistry can feel relieving and it gives you hope , because it can be changed. 2.) treat yourself like you would treat a family member who you disapprove of in some way. Yes you may not like the idea of not being straight , but you could still love yourself and you deserve to. 3.) understand that even if it were true , it wouldn’t change who you are. ( not saying it’s true ) Who you are attracted to us only one part of you , not the entirety of who you are. 4.) treat your OCD like it’s a bully , don’t entertain him and let him mess with you. It’ll start to get boring for your fears since you wouldn’t be reacting anymore. 5.) be kind to yourself and know that you’re stronger than your thoughts and fears. 6.) the most important one is to change your perception. This takes time and isn’t always easy , but it’s worth it. You could do this by being like “ so what if my feat was true ? It doesn’t have to effect me unless I let it. I’m not going to let it anymore “.

Hey thanks but I’m scared I might be jealous if a girl likes another girl, I hate myself for thinking like this. I asked myself the worst case scenario and my brain went “would you be jealous if a girl likes another girl?” I hope this is hocd cause I don’t want to be gay. People told me this is being protective, but no one with hocd thinks like this

@GummyDrop You may not have heard anyone dealing with that fear , but trust me people have. But you have to accept uncertainty and I know it sucks to hear that but in the long run it will help you !!

@GummyDrop You have to sit with the way you feel and the uncertainty that you deal with so your brain doesn’t react as intensely!

@GummyDrop I totally understand that feeling , but telling yourself that only makes it worse because it tells the fear that is getting to you , and for that reason , it doesn’t bring you towards recovery. It’s good to acknowledge how you feel , but try saying to yourself that if you had another fear or problem in your life , you may say the same thing. OCD is horrible , but think of it this way. If you’re the one person out of 100 that has OCD , your the one person who understands the OCD community the best , you may have the most compassion , and you’ll have the most knowledge in certain areas that they couldn’t have unless they had OCD

@xiiiandreww When I overcome ocd I think I’ll be stronger than everyone else cause ocd made me at my lowest point but overcoming it makes me at my greatest point

@GummyDrop Even though Ocd is at its worst already, there’s some benefits of having ocd , if life throws me another problem it’ll be easier to handle it than those who don’t have ocd.

@GummyDrop Exactly that !!! Always think the way you’re thinking right now. The positives are less obvious than the negative ones but they are real and powerful

This is killing me slowly day by day, im a straight female 20 years old, i started getting hocd after a break up with an ex and coming off intense use of 🍁🍃 for a few years on and off, i think it has messed up my brain so bad… my hocd is weird because ive been with men my whole life always wanted to be with men.. i also used to always question every relationship “do i love him? Does he love me? Am I with the right person?” Anyways after my hocd triggered my tocd due to researching hocd and finding they can often be linked, I started getting tocd and it’s worse then ever because it’s not who I want to be and I’m going back to situations where my abusive ex partner called me a “man” during a fight. I’ve always been a tomboy but never had same sex attraction. Help. This is killing me. I haven’t been able to study or leave the house most days, and work! I’ve lost motivation for everything and I’m in a dark hole. I need some success stories please

How can I recover and starve the HOCD. It feels so real since it uses sensations, gronials, urges, past memories etc. it’s so frickin difficult. I just want to recover and be the person I was.

I’ve recovered from HOCD before and got my attraction and my usual actual identity back. I was recovered from end 2022- start 2025 until I got triggered UGHHH😭 My HOCD is REALLY trying to convince me and it’s SO annoying cause I genuinely don’t want these thoughts. I know I naturally like men and always have done so. I can’t wait for my first therapy session in two days Omg! I need your advice, not necessarily reassurance, but more advice? My HOCD is throwing random “proof” I did/ saw as a child in my face, which back then had no meaning in my life and I continued to live a perfectly heterosexual life. I’ve educated myself about arousal non concordance / child’s play, but it still doesn’t remove the HOCD. I’ve read therapists great explanations on how it’s not a sexuality issue, BUT ITS AN OCD BRAIN ISSUE. So basically I’ve been straight and i will die as straight. But my ocd is still continuing with the intrusive thoughts/flashbacks. I’ve had some moments where I haven’t done as many compulsions and had less anxiety but still had those damn thoughts and I DO NOT want those damn thoughts. I have so much proof and factual/logical explanations but HOCD is still continuing to thrive. I absolutely hate this and I feel so alone. I wish there was a reset button cause I don’t want these thoughts to happen. I want a man and I stand by that. How do y’all deal with these situations? Cause sitting with the thoughts is clearly not helping.
