Having had OCD since a child my experience has taught me that our intrusive thoughts will naturally morph into things which we fear the most at certain times of our lives, you’ll find yourself fixated on them because they go against your moral values leading you to question your being and therefore making them significant by constantly questioning their existence, hence why they seem to stick- it can be a though process but CBT works! keep at it @evelyncat ?? A little analogy I first learnt when diagnosed with intrusive thoughts which has helped me to this day is thinking about our instrusive thoughts as if they were a volleyball bully floating in the sea, fighting to force down the volley ball is exhausting and a never ending battle which has no other outcome as it is constantly pushing back against you however, if you release the ball and stop forcing it down and fighting against it, by just letting it be, it will eventually float away. The idea is not to ignore the ball, acknowledge its presence , how it makes you feel whatever this maybe, but just let it come and go as it pleases. Unfortunately this is a difficult process as we have to accept the intrusive thoughts as we do all thoughts and as a result learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable which is what CBT helped me with when I was ready, it’s a big first step to recovery we should all be proud of ?

I know it’s so frustrating, I said no and then there was a little “explain” section and I was like I don’t want to do these things but I have obsessions about it

Hi! If this is your first time experiencing this I know what it’s like. Are you able to contact a therapist? If not, just try to let the thoughts run through your head. Don’t assign any meaning to them, they’re just thoughts. Don’t try to prevent them either, because that will make the anxiety worse. I’m not a therapist by any means, but this app has some great tools for dealing with OCD.
