Good morning to all. I have OCD and have had it since high school. However, I was not formed diagnosed until 2003, when I was 45 . I have a psychiatrist and Licensed therapist, and have been on Zoloft/sertraline ever since. Currently I have to have cataract surgery in a few weeks and I am very anxious about the whole thing. Of course this has been a trigger for my OCD and dealing with it the best I can. Any thoughts ?
I would try and figure out what about your surgery is scaring you. What are you afraid will happen? That will help you see what fear you need to expose yourself to and accept.
@redbud Thank you for replying ! I have to go for pre procedure clearing and I am worried my blood pressure will be very high.

@MyMia Thank you for getting back ! It is very hard to be calm, but it is one step at a time. Very hard to have this fear.
@MyMia I have that exact same fear! Even now I get nervous specifically about my blood pressure when I see the doctor. I always seem to think it will be high which will make them think somethings wrong. And it usually is a bit high because I’m scared. But most doctors know this. I usually just tell them that this freaks me out and they understand. You can buy a blood pressure monitor at home and check it. Get someone to help you. Not to actually see what it is, but to scare yourself and face the fear. That’s a great way to expose yourself to this and overcome it without having to go to the doctor each time.
Hey everyone. I’m new to this app and have been recently diagnosed with OCD. My symptoms were something I had all my life but only recently took the step to seek therapy. Hoping to share my journey with y’all soon and recover together.
Feeling pretty good, except tomorrow I have to go for a cataract surgery pre op check up. Hopefully it won’t be a big deal, but am anxious because of my OCD. Just worried about my Blood Pressure, which is normally a little elevated, but overall I feel fine. I get very anxious obviously because of the OCD. Hopefully all goes well.
Hi everyone, I’m new to the community. I was diagnosed with OCD just a couple of months ago and have been doing some reading and other research to try and understand the disorder. With this, I have been actively seeing a great therapist who has been helpful to build tools to deal with my intrusive thoughts ( contamination OCD is my worst theme). Do help learn to deal with the compulsions, I start on Sertraline or “Zoloft” I believe since November 2024. Currently I’m on 50mg and have been doing this for just over a month. My question for those who are also taking Sertraline and it has been successful, how do you know it has really provided a benefit and how long did it take to get there? I sometimes feel the medication works, and sometimes I feel it doesn’t (maybe that’s my OCD trying to mess with things). Thanks!
