Blinking & fluoxetine

happening out of nowhere is almost always how OCD starts. I believe what you have is considered somatic OCD. i developed that last summer with the urge to go pee. I had just started a new medication and STUPIDLY went on reddit to check other peoples experiences ( worst idea iv had in a long time) and i read a comment about some woman CLAIMING that the same medication i had just started ruined her bladder and she listed this horror story about that... and wouldn't you know.. in FIVE SECONDS i had to pee... so i went pee.... but... i still had to go... " oh no... is it happening to me now? is the medication ruining my bladder?" i went to the bathroom probably 10 times in 30 minuets... nothing was coming out tho " oh no! i have urinary retention.. its the medication, i have to stop it.. but if i stop it, my OCD is going to get worse" i went to the dr as someone said maybe i had a UTI. nope, tests were clear. Dr said " i have never seen bladder problems with your medication but i suppose anything is possible ( BOY did that make me SPIRAL). i fought it for a week... a week of feeling like i had to pee 24-7.... I'm not even kidding. it NEVER STOPPED. i finally had a nervous breakdown, went to the ER and hoped a Dr would say some magic words like " no, there is zero possibility your medication is causing this, stay on it, i promise everything will get better" buuuuttt instead they said " well... this isn't a common response to this medication, but maybe you are having an unusual reaction, you can discontinue if you want.".... it was HORRIBLE.... i missed a week of work, my parents came over to help me care for myself as i had stopped eating and sleeping due to the anxiety... i had to make a decision... i decided to give the medication a month and i started working with an NOCD therapist.... guess what? it went away. we used a saying of " i don't care about that right now, what else should i be doing?" i started a bathroom schedule, i was only allowed to pee every 3-4 hours. it took 2-3 weeks and then it FINALLY went away. Sorry about the long story but i wanted you to know you are not alone, that somatic OCD is SO ANNOYING but its still OCD and medication worked WONDERS for me. give it time. it takes up to 3 months to fully experience the benefits. You can pull thru this.
