Swallowing pills

for past three years I would take pills for anything, anxiety related to even medication for infections. But I just cant anymore. My throat feels really small, even when I eat food. I asked my dentist to prescribe me liquid Amoxicillin, and she did. My parents picked up my medication and it was capsule form instead. They know my aversion to swallowing pills so they broke it apart and was mixed in with orange juice, but even then that worries me. what if I get a health defect from that method? Thats why tomorrow I am asking for a presciption Liquid Amoxicillin, I've been extremely anxious today and it sucks.

It took me forever to learn how to swallow pills. It wasn't until I started taking medication for OCD that I was finally able to do it without a fear of choking. I think working up from a small pill size to a larger one really helped. Anyway, I know you're going to get it in liquid form tomorrow, but for possible future purposes, apple sauce and peanut butter is something that helped me when I had difficulty swallowing pills :) I'm sorry you've been having such a rough day. I hope tomorrow is better!

Amazing comment. Pills I've taken in the past ranged from normal size capsules, to very thick pills. what happened was that I nearly choked on 3 occasions. I was somewhat wary of taking pills but I became more fearful after that, so I see your advice as a really good alternative, thank you so much

Pills are hard. One thing to try is the method often used to teach kids. They have them practice swallowing tic tacs whole with water. When they are confident they move to swallowing M & M's with water. You could certainly use yogurt or something to put them in too. The tic tacs and m and M's I mean. Worth a try.

I’m 36 and still cannot swallow certain sized pills. I attempted to work up to swallowing m&m’s in therapy when I was younger and while I can swallow smaller round pills, still cannot do capsules or oblong pills. I’ve just accepted that reality for me and anytime I need medicine, I tell them I need liquid. I no longer feel ashamed for it either. Please be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace. Medication

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

Medication for OCD?

Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?

Health ocd is really bad today

Hi everyone. I take hydroxyzine 50 mg every night for anxiety for about five months. I’ve been experiencing at least one heart palpitation a day so of course I went down my googling spiral and saw people say it gave them cardiac arrest? I’m only 19 but I’m so so scared. Please someone help me.
