Medication
Can people please share their experiences on very low dose medications for their OCD? Maybe ones that have worked well with little side effects? Anything is helpful & thank you

I tried taking Zoloft, but had a hard time tolerating it, so I switched to Lexapro. I started medicine about a year and a half into ERP therapy. For me personally, medication is an extra tool to help me manage my OCD. Keep in mind that every person tolerates medicine differently. It isn’t one size fits all. Communicate with your doctor, take note of side effects if or when they come up, and work on a plan to help you manage the medication while you adjust. It may seem scary or overwhelming at first, which is normal, but keep open communication with your doctor.
I did a mouth swab test that actually showed what meds were good for me and which ones I metabalize too fast. Speak to your Dr!
Your doctor will know the best:) I’m on prozac and buspar. I started on just 20 mg of prozac and my symptoms immediately reduced within 4 weeks. Ive had to up my dose only because my themes got harder (yes there is a hierarchy of debilitation within ocd themes) but still I feel normal and happy most of the time. It helps me to handle the waves of uncertainty and to be okay with not knowing. I am now on 40 grams of prozac and 30 grams of buspar. It helps tremendously, especially mornings which are hardest for me
Also, I would advise not looking up anything about medication and to trust whats best from your doctor. The internet made me hold my meds for months but never take them. The internet is about as black and white as your mind and it wont help you with anything. Again trust your your doctor and take whatever they give you. They have more knowledge and experience than all of us by years
Im on klonopin and Zoloft it does wonders for me
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?
I understand that everyone is different but lately I have been debating on medication just because of past experiences but does anyone have any good experiences with medication that has helped them with their OCD as well as therapy or treatment? As of now I’m dealing with it by myself but it feels like it may be getting worse
