that sounds familiar. I personally have a fear of going crazy. and obsess about it. ocd thoughts arw not based reality.. try to stop looking for an answer to the question of if you're crazy or seek to find temporary relief.. you'll get relief more in the long term if you sit with the uncertainty and try to refocus your energy

I really have tried this. But then I’ll be like what if my inner voice is a voice and my inner voice will start saying the strangest stuff or acting as if it’s not me. I’m so confused by it all. I’m literally scared to think.

remember you might have a magnifying glass on your thoughts which isn't helpful.. especially if it's just random nonsense thoughts that we all do.. what we can control is our response to them.. do ideally you don't pay them attention bit if you get stuck focusing on them then try to say idk, idc, these thoughts aren't helpful or important, it's not me it's my ocd

I hear you. "what ifs" are fuel for ocd. once you hear yourself saying that, don't put value into finishing the sentence

You’re right, thank you for commenting. Comforted knowing I’m not alone.

I repeat certain things to make sure it sounds like my normal inner voice, it gets better n worse for me
- Date posted

@xxxxi Yes! I have been doing that. If I get a “voice” intrusive thought, say like “this is someone else, not you” I’ll repeat it, like is this me? I can’t decide what’s right and what’s wrong. Sometimes they even come out of the blue which makes me more on edge because it’s not like, I am checking? It’s just there. Does this make sense?

@minfoy Yes it does bcus it happens to me all the time and I see the pattern but it’s so hard to tell apart, I have different things that just pop out of nowhere but it’s like I know it’s me but my mind is playing a trick with me n it makes me question it and it’s mixed with harm ocd so it’s the worse

@xxxxi Yes! Mine is too. Sometimes I’ll be lying with my wife and I’ll hear my brain go “kill her” and I’m like what the fuck? And I know that’s harm OCD mixed in. It’s insane to me how deep this can get. And it’s my voice, I know that.

@minfoy Omg yes! I was so scared to use that word once I figured out I had ocd and out of nowhere with this theme it popped up like that and I switch it up to make sure I can control it so I say like different things, one time I was in a car and I got scared the person was driving but instead of saying watch out my thought was hit her

@xxxxi I’m sorry I mean I got scared that the person was driving would hit the other person and instead of saying watch out I had a thought that said hit her, it threw me off

@xxxxi Yes! I get these all the time. It’s awful. And I’ll be walking around the house and my brain will go, “go and kill everyone!” And I’m like yeah ok mate sure. I know those are from HOCD, I am just wondering why on earth these ones are getting to me so badly, I feel so scared to even think? What if it’s not me? What if I’m nuts? And then I’ll be like talking myself down and I’ll be like oh my gosh is this me talking myself down or the voice? It’s nuts! And I’ve had the car one so many times but honestly now I just say “lol ok brain good one been watching too much SVU”

@minfoy And sometimes my brain makes me think things that don’t even make sense or don’t relate to any them but it still throws me off and I’m like omg is this me or the voices! So crazy honestly, it has been driving me crazy I feel

@xxxxi It’s not true. Just our brains having a short circuit, like any other obsession. Me too! There’s a few people on here as well. And I hope it gets better for you as well.

You’re right. That’s what I’m trying to do, and then I guess my thoughts try to imitate what a person with this illness might think or hear if that makes sense. It’s so scary. I try to say to myself this is OCD, these are your thoughts. But it’s so unhelpful at the moment. I really am trying to accept it all, but when I do I get a voice in my head saying something. It’s exhausting. Thank you.

and ocd will always be talking and saying yeah but what if.. call it was it is and try to do something you actually want to do even if all you want to do in the moment is reesure yourself

You’re right. I hate the what if. I don’t know why I can’t accept this one. It seems to be when I’m alone it’s the worst, when I’m with someone or someone in the house is up and awake they are much less then what they are. I think maybe I am scared of my own inner voice, instead of just allowing it to be there? I hope this makes sense.

and remember it's not the random stuff they pops into our heads that's the problem it's our response to it

Yes, you are correct. I think being completely isolated is what is making it worse for me, like being so lonely makes me think god what if I’m making up friends in my head.
