uhh i guess I’ve learnt a lot more about the different sexualities and the spectrum ? (Since one of my compulsions used to be researching and doing sexuality tests)

i do not see any benefit in hocd. its still ocd in the end but i get your question none the less. hard to say anything benificial, my compulsive problem is/was digging into porn and tbh i want to step away from that as much as i can. its not only because of the hocd but also of how badly porn affects our worldview.

@sn3k I think you’ll be more nervous talking someone your attracted to, maybe you’ll have a harder time to find a relationship

@Peridottttt yes that is one of the things. also for example erectile dysfunction since your brain is wired to a screen and not something that is happening with a partner in real life. been there and after realising that i said i wanna stop this nonsense, its destroying my life, i spent way too much time in pornography from my youth on.

@sn3k Yeah fapping is making you a loser, can be beneficial at time but I gotta stop

@Peridottttt fapping without porn can be okay but with porn its like a taking your brain on a visualy drugfilled rollercoaster.

@sn3k Oh I stop porn 2 years ago, and knowing I have hocd I will trigger the fuck outta me. So now I need to stop fapping, I don’t do it with porn. What is that ok I may ask why?

@Peridottttt i meant just masturbation without any visual content is totaly okay if you do it from time to time. and i have same thing like u, i used porn to reassure and do compulsions because of my hocd. i am trying to get away from it but its a slow process. my problem is i have been watching porn since a kid so it will take a bit more time to crack thst nut. :)

@sn3k I started watching porn in the end of 6 grade where it was summer time. Yes, it was a addictive, but I told myself “no more” and I’m so proud that I stop. But hocd only hitted me after I stoped porn, and now I’m never going to the site cause my triggers will be high and I would be depressed. Didn’t know it was that easy to watch porn. They even have premium version, damnn they be making money like drugs.

@Peridottttt there is a very interesting science behind brainchemistry and how it reacts with stimulation on porn. its like the human brain can get so many sex in so short time and its always there just a step away. you might be right about the pornindustry - similar to the tabaco and alcohol lobby. kind of sad.

@sn3k Don’t you think that porn is so easy to access and addictive that it’s hard to find someone who has a healthy brain?

I wanted to voice that homosexuals can get HOCD too. I remember when i was younger and knew i was gay i still got HOCD one time when watching The Office. I thought Pam was so pretty and then started doubting my whole identity because what if i am straight? Oh god, what a terror if i was heterosexual. But anyway, thought that maybe this would help heteros with HOCD by knowing that this is a universal symptom across OCD sufferers of all sexual orientations. A big problem is calling this subtype “Homosexual OCD,” because its not. It has nothing to do with being homo or hetero or bi or anything. Its just OCD being a bully. I think labelling subtypes is an issue altogether, as it can unconsciously make people feel like its not just OCD. But it is. Does this make any sense? What are yall’s thoughts on this? Or is this just my OCD talking? (Im not seeking reassurance just genuinely find this interesting) TLDR; each time we “qualify” OCD with a subtype, we reinforce that the subtype is part of the issue. In reality, OCD is just a broken loop in our brains, and thoughts are just thoughts. And Pam Beesly is a hottie.

Is anyone here actually gay and has/had sexuality or religious ocd? I don't have it at all haha I'm a lesbian myself without socd or religious ocd but I'm just curious: what's it like and how did you deal with the whole "biggest fear coming true" thing?

One of my best coping mechanisms somedays is to remember that while my OCD causes a lot of mental distress, it also can be a strength of mine. OCD has allowed me to thrive in my job, I tend to pay attention to small details and be in very good control of my work. I know exactly what is going on and often think before I say or jump to anger. I tend to apologize when something is truly wrong and be more genuine. I just know we all get in the habit of OCD being this absolutely terrible thing,,; and often it is,, but it also can be a strength in some. It shows I have empathy, am loyal, and a hard worker based on my attention to detail and want for control (even with my thoughts) ♥️♥️
