Yesterday, I was told by one of my coworkers my OCD is a sin. Now, I work at a church and I am pursuing a ministry career and I don’t feel like it’s a sin but it is really bothering me. I’m trying to figure out how to navigate this as a Christian battling OCD.
If you believe that God has a plan for everyone, then maybe God's plan was for you to have OCD. Sins are things that people choose to do. For example murder, adultery, etc. You did not choose to have OCD. you can not control that you have it. Therefore it is not a sin. Im not sure how you feel about the singer Lady Gaga, but in her song "Born This Way" she has a lyric that goes, "I'm beautiful in my way, cause God makes no Mistakes. I'm on the right track baby, I was born this way" God made you the way he did. He made you with OCD. you are not sinning by living with OCD. You were born this way. God loves you even if you struggle with OCD ❤️
Those who don't have a clue about it better shut up (sorry but I couldn't help it, it makes me so upset when I read these kind of comments or that You can control your thoughts etc... etc... like we don't know a thing!) because they make everything worse. I'm a religious person and have been nothing but good and kind to other people. I have my own views about OCD which is NOT like the demon who is speaking to your mind because as a "religious" person You would know it and simply ignore it. When You have OCD You can't this simply ignore, because your brain's chemicals are unbalanced, maybe this friend of yours have to try what's like to have OCD for one day and see if they will say it's a "sin"! Honestly like we want and happy that this happened to us!! (even though a part of us plays a role in OCD). I'm sorry if I was emotional here, I only meant good. and You know, bad things happen to good people. Peace 🕊️
That's just a lie. I'm sorry you were told this. There's a lot of ignorance around OCD.

Hello! It has been well documented that OCD can manifest itself in the form of religious rituals. There is a fine line between genuine piety and OCD. For those of you who have struggled or are still struggling with this, have you sought the guidance of a religious figure in addition to a therapist? Meaning, that you attend therapy with a therapist who works with you on ERP exercises, but also have a rabbi, priest, or imam who you use for guidance in determining what is actual piety versus behavior that is OCD?
Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for dealing with religious OCD. I'm a Christian and I struggle with Harm OCD but then somehow, my religious beliefs got mixed into this where I am suddenly asking all these questions on whether God/Jesus is even good. And as a result, I feel so distant from my faith which makes dealing with my harm OCD so much harder 😢 Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi! I have been struggling with ocd for many years of my life, however, I have recently been struggling with religious ocd. Currently my ocd has been putting thought into my mind like, “you shouldn’t go to that party, because “God” doesn’t what you to” or “don’t do this or else it’s going to make “God” mad.” These thoughts have been overall causing me so much anxiety, and truly I don’t know what to do. I’ve been struggling to identify it’s actually Gods voice or not. Also, my ocd has been also making my prayer a very stressful part of my day, which is not how it should feel at all. Now finding peace in prayer feels more like a chore, than a conversation. Does anybody else have ocd like this? If so, any tips?
