Does anyone else struggle with groinal response with POCD?? Mine relapsed after having a baby and it came back but with groinals this time and it’s making me want to scream😭I fucking hate myself I feel like a piece of shit n feel like I don’t deserve to be a parent
So very common. More common than probably a lot of people talk about (due to the stigma, ofc). It's important to remember that regardless of theme, OCD is OCD, and groinal responses are part of OCD. They can be anything from tingling, to full erection and even ejaculation. And groinal responses can be in reponse to ANY kind of intrusive thought/trigger.

I've had that before, it really is horrible 🙁 and I still do, though it's now more connected to other things that POCD. It helps me to think that body responses don't really tell what your mind is thinking and there are many situations where those two don't match and this is just one of them. I hope you can manage with everything 🙏🏻
@Ashzz It is, I’ve had groinals with SOOCD before but never with POCD and it’s breaking me, all I do is cry😭

@Ashzz It’s okay, I can talk to people about it but I’m waiting for help but idk if I’ll be able to talk to a therapist about it cos I’m so ashamed😭
@Fcukocd I totally get that, I started therapy recently and I feel like there are so many things I should talk about but they feel too embarrassing 🥲 but there is usually a possibility to for example write if that's easier, we made a plan with my therapist that if something i wanna talk about feels too hard to share I can write it and send as an email before the session so it'll be much easier to start talking about it face to face too. So im sure something like that could be possible for you too if you think it could be helpful! And you of course don't need to tell everything during the first session 🙏🏻

@Ashzz Thanks, it’s just a shame that the waiting list for therapy is so long, can’t afford NOCD therapy cos it’s $240 a session and I’m from the UK so I don’t have insurance for it, so have to go through the NHS
@Fcukocd Ahh im sorry 😕 I got into therapy through our healthcare services (im from finland) and im luckily getting compensation (it doesn't have anything to do with insurance here) so it's not so expensive, but still not super cheap either. I don't know anything about how the process works there, but long waiting lists seem to be quite universal thing, it's really a shame how expensive or otherwise difficult and slow it is to get into therapy

hi does anyone ever get a random grounal response then feel aroused but you don’t want to be like before i had the thought i was feeling a little aroused then i had a random thought and it had the ground response and i felt aroused i don’t understand.
I’ve been struggling a lot recently with intrusive thoughts and images of the same gender, and I’ll often get a groinal response out of pure terror which then fuels hyperawareness to the groin and to salivation which then makes my whole body burn and ruins my whole day out of fear of it meaning something about myself despite all the evidence in my past that I am straight (e.g having a baby on the way, only being attracted to women), I try to tell myself that it’s all OCD and it is a lie, but the groinal response just keeps me in this horrible spiral constantly, to the point that I have nightmares about it, does anyone else have this problem? I’m so exhausted because of it and I can’t sleep because the intrusive thoughts keep me awake for hours on end, I’m getting the help I need but the wait is crippling :(
TW - Groinal Responses 18+ Also tmi As of the last week or two, I have no idea why or how, but the groinal responses have gotten so, so much worse... Today was so bad... And I'm still having a very hard time. Like, I don't even know if I want to say how bad it really is. It's beyond just obsessing about it; I have to try to distract myself so something doesn't actually happen from the groinal response (I'm intentionally being vague bc I don't want to say much about the situation). I'm seriously struggling... and I don't know what to do or how it can change... This is tmi too, but years ago I had another issue regarding groinal responses. And even just the thought of it made my body do something I would have thought couldn't have happened just from thinking and worrying about it happening [the thing my body did back then isn't as distressing as I'm worried about my body doing now] (and yes, I'm intentionally being vague again) My mind and body are very against me right now...
