It depends :) If you tell yourself in a non-compulsive way: it can help š If you tell yourself in a compulsive way: it will make it worse

when they first started happening to me, they REALLY kicked my ass too. they are awful in the way that they make everything feel REAL, which is always really scary :( the best thing that you can do for yourself to take away their power is to just move past them. thatās all you can do. once you start doing that and stop being as scared of them, THATāS when theyāll lose their power. fear is what gives them power over you and is why they keep happening. learn to recognize them as just a part of OCD and nothing more. they TRULY do not mean anything and you know that š«¶š»

@gorillazlover123 ThanksšIām just trying to get past the constant feeling of needing to cry, I feel like a failure as a parent and that Iāve let my family down by having these responsesš all I ever wanna do is cry, I just want it to stop š

@Fcukocd i know EXACTLY, and i mean EXACTLY how you feel. i used to cry 5+ times a day when i would ruminate and obsess over every single OCD moment i had. it is draining beyond belief, and i canāt imagine being a parent on top of that. give yourself some grace- you are balancing so many responsibilities AND a massively debilitating disorder. you are doing the best that you can, and the last thing you need is to make yourself feel bad on top of everything else youāre already dealing with. i wouldnāt be here if i didnāt communicate with my family when i needed support, so if you feel comfortable i would definitely recommend talking to someone you love (and a professional ofc if thatās what you think you may need :)). you are NOT alone in this, i have gone through everything youāre describing and so have many others š«¶š»š«¶š»

@gorillazlover123 Thanksš Iām trying my best to just ignore it but it makes me feel so horrible and disgusted with myself, I try to talk to my family and I still stay disgusted with myself, no matter what I do I feel disgusting, Iām waiting for professional help but itās taking foreverš itās good to know that Iām not alone I just wish it helped me feel betterš

@Fcukocd so do i, and i completely understand. that feeling of disgust is so powerful and such a stable part of OCD. i deal with it about a million times a day, and no matter how many times people tell me iām a good person, i still feel like the most horrible person in the world. i really do get you, and iām glad youāre reaching out for help and that youāre planning on therapy soon :)) things will get easier!!

My groinal responses used to destroy me but as soon as I didn't react to one it got much much easier to be ok with. Just work on it one at a time man i hate seeing you here every day in so much distress. You can do this
