I have never had a boyfriend and I feel like everyone thinks I’m not straight because I’m 22 and never had a boyfriend. Like not even close to a relationship at all. I have had people ask me if I was gay, which has been very triggering. It really bothers me. I want a boyfriend but then my ocd makes me questions that. Also I don’t just want anyone, I want someone for me. Maybe they are right tho 😔
You are all so young and very fortunate that you are proactive in working on your recovery journey from OCD at your ages. I didn’t get diagnosed until the day I brought my 2nd baby home from the hospital. It was so hard to work on the OCD while trying to raise 2 babies under the age of 2 years old. I wish I could have started fighting my battle with OCD before I got married. It’s really hard to focus on recovery when you already have a family to take care of as well as yourself. You all have time on your side….it is so great that you have a chance to fight this battle with OCD while you are still single so that you can be even stronger and healthier on your own 1st before you do enter into a romantic relationship. I believe all of us who suffer from OCD have the chance to become conquerers😊
@Scarlet5 You are so right, thank you! I’m going to work on getting a therapist and meds soon. I hope you are able to take sometime to focus on yourself, it’s important to prioritize your health for your family. I have full faith that everything will work out for you.
My daughter didn’t have her 1st boyfriend until she was 22…ur so young try not to worry about when or how old you will be when your find your 1st boyfriend. Hope this helps in some way!

See I am straight male suffering from hocd of 21 years of age and I have my 1st gf after treatment from my ocd but again after ocd overlap I have no gf and as you show doughts same with me but deep down want loving gf /wife and kids but fear is if I come out as gay in relationship with girl and social media has many cases and I don't have money as I am student and till 25 I have to settle mentally ,financially first then only want relationship with girl if you are comfortable I will share my experiences with you if you agree thanks.

@ocdbelowzero That’s so nice that you guys were experiencing a relationship together for the first time. I would really like to find a guy like that but I feel like it’s really hard.
@Anonymous yeah it is a bit harder, but if you knew how many people like that are out there, you’d be suprised. Harder to find them, but I really belive you will meet someone like that. Also don’t stress about not meeting him already. My uncle met her girl when he was 38, i’m not telling you to wait until then, but they built the most beautiful life together, now they have a lake house and a 1yo baby. Meeting the right person can never be too late.

When I was in my 20s my family would make jokes that maybe I was gay too. I was also similar in thinking I want a specific kind of person not just anyone and I was also trying to avoid getting accidentally pregnant (had a lot to learn about myself and my body). I know you probably feel like your missing some event but you're really on your own time line! :) It's easier to figure yourself out when you're young and practice listening to your own intuition on what you're ready for. If people are making comments about your relationship status maybe saying something like "I'm enjoying figuring myself out right now" or "When I feel like I'm ready I will be". It's none of their business lol when you're younger everyone wants to be in someone's businesss. You're actually very mature and mindful taking initiative on your mental health! :)
@Anonymous Thank you for this! I feel like I have always been a very cautious person and tried to always protect my peace. Also lots of insecurity behind it all pushing people away. When my ocd became a huge issue it made this so much more complicated and awful. I know that if I don’t feel confident physically or emotionally nothing will happen for me.
