First of all, let me start with a powerful statement:
“The truth will set you free.”
Why this statement?
Because OCD is a condition characterized by doubt, distorted perceptions, lies, and mental traps. The good news is this: healing from OCD is possible. Once you understand how OCD functions, you are no longer trapped by it.
All OCD themes operate in the same way, regardless of the topic.
Here are four common OCD themes (among many):
1. Sexual Orientation OCD (SO-OCD)
Intrusive doubts about sexual orientation driven by anxiety and mental checking—not desire.
2. Relationship OCD (ROCD)
Obsessive doubts about loving someone “enough,” being with the “right” person, or misreading normal emotions.
3. Harm OCD
Intrusive thoughts about causing harm, followed by fear and avoidance, despite no desire to act.
4. Contamination / Health OCD
Fears about illness, germs, or bodily sensations that lead to checking, cleaning, or reassurance seeking.
The topic may change, but the pattern does not.
Let me teach you a powerful acronym related to OCD. It is called The OCD Trap.
T — Thought (Intrusive Thought)
An unwanted thought or doubt appears and feels urgent or threatening.
" What if _____" or this thought mean something about me ?? Bla bla bla ( this is how I see the OCD shatter in my mind)
R — Response (Engagement)
You react by mentally engaging with the thought.
Then the mental traps starts, need to challenge this thought! I am so disturbed, anxious, bla bla , bla !!
A — Assurance (False Certainty-Seeking)
You seek relief by trying to prove or disprove the thought.
P — Peace (That Never Lasts)
You then do something by giving it more power to that thought , you step away from friends. You feel less anxious . Relief is brief, but it has trap . A never ending cycle of OCD is created. The peace that never lasts.
Different themes.
Same trap.
The Truth That Sets You Free
• Thoughts are not facts
• Feelings are not commands
• Anxiety is not insight
OCD survives by convincing you that you must figure everything out before you can live.
Healing begins when you learn that you can live fully without answering OCD’s questions at all.
Try this acronym
S.T.O.P.
S — See it for what it is: OCD
Name it accurately. This is not intuition, identity, or truth, it is OCD. I say to myself , here comes the bla bla again !!!
T — Tolerate discomfort and uncertainty
Anxiety is uncomfortable, but it is not dangerous. You do not need certainty to move forward.
O — Observe the urge without obeying it
Notice the urge to analyze, check, or avoid, without acting on it. Do not engage in the trap, see the thought and ignore it. Do not engage it . Say to yourself here comes the bla bla again , move on with life .
P — Proceed with your life anyway
Stay connected. Keep living. Do the next right thing, even with anxiety present.
Key insight:
The thought is not the problem. Peace comes from disengagement, not certainty.
Allow your mind to step into a different focus , focus on how much you enjoy staying connected with friends, how much fun you are having, trust me shift your focus by not engaging in the OCD trap and naturally anxiety fades away!!
Healing from OCD is possible ❤️🩹
Go enjoy your friends ! 👯👯👯
