This is what I’m currently dealing with. I will try to find you the article I read that really helped me. It’s good you recognize that it’s ocd, that means you have the tools. I’ll look for that thing. All the best to you.

Hello again, this link: https://www.academia.edu/4075725/Problems_in_the_Diagnosis_of_OCD really helped me differentiate between ocd and shiz obsession. As you go further down it explains how we confusion symptoms of OCD with those of S. It is a wonderful read and hopefully will help you with your journey through this. Robert is excellent when it comes to this theme and has studied it in depth. Have a good day, you can do this. Happy holidays!

Hey there you said that article helped you a lot but honestly im struggling to read it through because i dont want to develop new thoughts or symptoms. Im scared of being alone over the fear of hearing things. Is there any tips on anything you have done to help with this theme?

@lulu23 Hey! No worries, I should have probably mentioned that. I’m so sorry. I suffer with being alone too. Unfortunately a lot of the things I do are compulsions as such, so I don’t have much to offer in this department. The only piece of advice I can offer is that just by being alone you aren’t going to hear the things you are worried about, I understand that when you aren’t alone it doesn’t seem as bad because you have someone to clutch onto even if so. The only thing that helps me is having something on in the background or in my ears, but this will only feed the fear. My suggestion is honestly to get used to 0 sound when you are alone, the more you expose yourself to it the less you will be afraid. I did this in ten minute intervals before hanging out by myself and tried to make the ten minutes as much as I could without the compulsion to put some sound on somewhere. I hope you can try to do this, maybe start with five. And remember you don’t just suddenly start hearing things, there’s more to S than that, a lot more. So keep that in mind, this is ocd.

@minfoy Thank you this helps. I hope we both overcome our fears

@lulu23 Me too. Another piece of advice I suggest is just letting the fear be there as in “so what if i am? on a list of things, this is treatable and many, infact most lead normal lives.” I know ocd attaches itself to the worst things for US, but you’ll survive and so will I. Hope you feel better, here if you ever need a chat.

@minfoy I reached out to robert and it turns out he offers ocd counseling and has over 4,000 hours of experience. He charges 20/hr. Its the cheapest rate ive come across for any type of ocd counseling. Do u have a therapist or are you handling your situation solo?

@lulu23 He does? No way! That’s awesome. And super cheap! I’m handling it solo, unfortunately. Currently moved counties so it’s even harder. I’m so happy you reached out and he offered to help. Wish I was so lucky!

@minfoy Im pretty sure ill be doing it all over the web. You should reach out too if youd like to. Before this I considered countless other coaches and therapists but all their rates are 150-200. I know our health is priceless but thats a price I cant afford. Good luck and I hope to reply here soon with progress!
