How strong does your so ocd get? I am in a loving straight relationship and yet my ocd comes on and I feel like I am just denying that I am gay. Learning about comphet etc and seeing people ‘realise’ late in life its so triggering to me. What if that’s me? I actually can’t stand it - it feels like I am stuck in my head

@Holly Hoyt It feels like I just don’t wanna accept it. Sometimes I get to the point where I’m like I must be gay I’ll just have to come out even though I know I’m not. Does this make sense?
I struggle with this a lil + a lottt of rocd and it's very strong.. I have some good days, it definitely helps me a lot to notice my ocd rather than give it much thought... So I'll kinda just be like "hi ocd!" Or "thanks ocd" n move on, instead of ruminating and trying to disprove it!!! It's hard but it definitely gets easier with time, and eventually you won't even be able to remember what you were anxious about in the first place!
@Roryrororo Yeh the rocd mixed in is awful! It just doesn’t want to go down this time! Still in an ocd spiral :(

I understand what you’re going through. Maybe you can try to accept the “what if” thought, because “what if” itself is an obsession. You will never be able to reach complete certainty in life, because life is full of experiences that we learn from. People who discover their feelings later in life are not “late,” and sometimes things can change. There is nothing completely fixed. You cannot get absolute certainty about everything. Try to live in the moment, enjoy it, and accept the thought instead of fighting it🌷

ahh i relate to this so much (i am actually a queer individual in a queer relationship so the thoughts aren’t identical, but i very much can relate to your feelings about it.

Are you open with your partner on your feelings? Have you ever explored? Or is this something you didn’t get to do before your relationship now which is where the doubt comes in?
@XwitnessX I was with other guys before him, i never had any interest in women before
@Gettingmylifeback I think this kind of curiosity is normal for any person to have, ocd or not. And these thoughts/feelings that you’re having don’t have to equal “you’re gay/your life is a lie/you don’t love your partner” etc. don’t assign it meaning, the ruminating is the ocd part. Be kind to yourself while you acknowledge you’re having very normal feelings and you’re navigating through life. 🙌✨
@XwitnessX Thank you, it’s just scary because if I was bi I wouldn’t care and I could still be with him but I know I’m not? It’s so confusing!!
