False attraction

@StrawberryMustang37 thank you! you're not alone in this either, it's relieving to hear that I'm not the only one struggling. It just feels so super real and sometimes I don't know anymore if it's really OCD or my real feelings etc. especially when I allow myself to not feel guilty for it or just try to live my life. I feel like a weird person sitting there and suddenly feeling attracted to a friend, a stranger, LITERALLY EVERYONE! and I'm like.. Wait.. Do I want this? Is this true? But-I don't wanna think about it and sometimes it attacks one specific person more and I'm like.. Does this mean I really want them? I think I'm just so scared of losing my boyfriend that my brain keeps sabotaging everything.. it's hell! Thank you for replying to my message, it really means a lot. Sending you so much strength! ❤️

@lizisdizzy Awww yeah honestly you're not alone and I'm the same! I felt relieved reading your post, not that I want anyone else to suffer but to realise I'm not alone! Yeah I've heard that if you're trying to figure out your feelings then it's likely not real and that it's the OCD! Because that's what it does. It's just so hard to believe sometimes when it feels so real! I don't get it with everyone but when one subsides another one pops in! It's really difficult, but I try to remember that if I didn't love my boyfriend then the thoughts wouldn't distress me so much- meaning I do love him and everything is fine. So it's reversed in a way. It's hard too when you try not to feel guilty anymore but then that's worse cos then you sit there like " omg I don't feel guilty" but that's the key for making it all go away ❤️

@lizisdizzy It's okay! I also get it where if someone mentions the person that's in my head I end up listening more which makes you feel like you're interested when you're actually not! Do you get this as well?

@StrawberryMustang37 Honestly I know what you mean, me texting the person or seeing their socials triggers this feeling too! Like you're super cautious about everything you do honestly. OCD can manifest in fake feelings and sensations. For example I started feeling nervous looking at my friend even tho I knew I don't find her attractive and I was like.... this means something! I'm a cheater! But remember WE get to decide to stay with our boyfriends! They're just thoughts and thoughts and feelings are NOT facts. It feels so real because it feels like us. I constantly have this feeling of.. what if i fall in love with someone else? Etc. and when you said "it switches between people." I got what you meant! I've the same!! It's so scary because then you feel like "Omg i fell for someone else." But in reality we're sooo super aware of everything and analyse everything so much that we think it means something about us!:(

@lizisdizzy That's so true! Thank you so much honestly for sharing! I find it targets people that you actually can find attractive too, but not want to be with. But I think that's the OCD making it seem more believable! Like it tries to trick you and it knows exactly how to get to you. I can say it fades but then like you say it switches between people! Sometimes I've read that within relationship OCD it can go from being partner focused to then you focused which I guess is where the false attraction OCD comes in
