Had this happened to anyone with ROCD??
My boyfriend and I have been together for three years, and lately, I’ve been struggling with my romantic feelings. For about two weeks, my emotions have felt distant, including my romantic feelings. I can still enjoy things, but sometimes I feel like I can’t access the love I used to feel naturally, mostly at school ( I do alot of complusions at home and school) and it scares me. I miss my boyfriend so much. I think he’s adorable, and I love so many things about his personality. I miss spending time with him, talking to him, and just being around him. But then my OCD starts asking, “Where is your love? Do you even love him anymore?” I’ve also been creating breakup scenarios in my head to see how I would feel if we broke up. I try to check whether the scenario feels real, whether I feel sad enough, or what my reaction means. Sometimes I just feel sad because I don’t want to lose him, but then I start questioning that feeling, too. Last week, I started experiencing breakup thoughts that felt unusually heavy and convincing, almost like I was reaching a conclusion. Sometimes I felt this heaviness in my chest and body, along with sadness, and other times I felt emotionally blank. The fact that the thoughts sometimes felt so real scared me, and I kept trying to figure out whether that meant I actually wanted to break up.I would replay scenarios in my head, imagine losing him, and examine my reactions. If I felt sad, I questioned whether the sadness was genuine. If I felt blank or didn’t react how I expected, I questioned whether that meant something different. It became a cycle of trying to understand my feelings and never feeling certain about what they meant. also notice that I experience jealousy sometimes, but when I don’t feel it as strongly, I start questioning what that means about my feelings. It feels like I’m constantly monitoring my emotions and trying to figure out whether they’re real. Recently, I called my boyfriend during my work break. I was physically and mentally tired, and I told him so. I started feeling that same sadness and having breakup-related thoughts, which confused me. Then he told me he had come to my workplace before my shift to bring me lunch, and I felt excited and happy about that. But afterward, I noticed myself wanting to hurry through the conversation or end the text exchange. I didn’t know if I was simply exhausted or what my reaction meant, and I started questioning myself again. The hardest part is that I don’t WANT to keep questioning my relationship. I want to enjoy being with my boyfriend without analyzing every feeling, thought, or reaction. I want to be able to miss him, appreciate his sweetness, and spend time with him without constantly asking myself where my romantic feelings are. But the more I try to find those feelings, the more frustrated and scared I become when I can’t feel them the way I expect to.I’ve also noticed that this emotional distance isn’t limited to my relationship. Other emotions have felt distant lately, too, even though I can still enjoy things. I’m not sure what is causing it, and the uncertainty has been difficult to deal with.Has anyone with ROCD experienced emotional distance or difficulty accessing romantic feelings, along with repeatedly imagining breakups to check their reactions? Have you experienced breakup thoughts that felt unusually real or convincing, physical heaviness, or sadness that you then felt compelled to analyze? Did you also find yourself questioning your jealousy, affection, excitement, or desire to talk to your partner? How did you learn to stop checking your feelings and cope with the uncertainty?
