But why would you do that god is everything for me I think just because we are having a hard time we should not be rude to the one who is so nice to us and always is with us. He is everything for me and I've been struggling through so much not so I could do such a sin later. I guess our beliefs are different but if you still are religious then I don't think you ever should do that

Because OCD is like a strangler fig vine. Think of your relationship with God as a big strong tree in the jungle. The OCD vines starts out small, just growing on a branch. But over time it twines round and round the trunk. It is strangling the tree to death. Eventually that tree you value will rot from the inside out until just the vine is left around an empty gap inside. You live your tree. As you should. But you're mistaking the vine for the tree beneath it. To save the tree inside, you need to cut away the vine with a chainsaw. Erp I'd that chainsaw. It feels brutal and ruthless, like you're attacking the tree, but in actuality you're rescuing it

I appreciate how scary it is. I literally spent a full day and s half in bed sobbing when my therapist broached the topic of ERP for the religious scrupulosity. I thought she was trying to steal my religion from me

You hit the nail on the head. Don't apologize. That's the compulsions that keeps the obsessions coming. Do you see how OCD upped the ante? First apologizing was enough, but now it tells you that it wasn't good enough. OCD will always level up if we play it's game

but what if it's like I almost broke a promise to God with my carelessness or I disrespect my mom sometimes and never say sorry or I speak to God with a loud tone . I think these are real mistakes but I feel ocd has a connection with this so I really don't know :(

@Kanikakanoka2671 What red flags make you think OCD is part of this?... My rule of thumb is that if I don't know whether something is OCD, I'll treat it like OCD and see what happens.

@Kanikakanoka2671 I think it might be ocd because when I say sorry I feel my emotions aren't coming out properly and I feel I didn't ask a proper sorry

@Kanikakanoka2671 You already came up with good advice for yourself. Stop apologizing. When you've mastered that, start intentionally cursing people and being rude to God to give you even more opportunities to practice not apologizing. When I struggled with religious fears, we built up to me writing swear words in the Bible and such
