the things that freaks me out is that whenever i see a masculine lesbian i automatically think i’m attracted to her. like no matter what. but because it’s only with masculine women not just all women it makes me think i’m actually attracted to them. hocd sucks

so my hocd has gotten to the point where i still get the thoughts. they just don’t really bother me like they did before. like i can think about it and it’s almost as if i’m numb to it. but also the false attraction has been coming back. so now i’ve been thinking this makes it real and it’s hard to resist compulsions right now. any tips?

@kaysf Think of it as if a performer just keeps doing the same tricks over and over and over. It gets boring. It’s dull. Your brain does the same. You’ve thought about these things over and over and your brain is bored. It’s tired of giving a reaction. The best you can do is just take it as an alert from your brain that you’re wearing it out. Try to ease up on it and just remember that your brain gets tired sometimes.

@Itsme I got so tired with having thoughts from hocd that I just started ignoring them. It allowed me to accept the uncertainty and I can say that I really don’t have it anymore. Though I do have a new ocd theme. My hocd will flare up here and there, but I can always calm back down and rationalize then move on. Giving my brain a break from hocd was the best thing I ever did. Now I need to try to do that with my new theme lol.

@imokay It takes a huge part of our brain, it's stressing and a waste of time. How many years did you have it? And what's your new ocd theme?

@Itsme I had it for 2 years. And my new theme is really one coherent theme of its own. Basically I just get tripped up by different moral dilemmas, opinions, and philosophies. Anything that just doesn’t sit right with me or contradicts what I believe gets me upset and I start to question my own opinions and morality. It’s quite intense.

@imokay my hocd is like this to where it doesn’t bother me as much anymore and i can go about my life. but i still can’t seem to get rid of it. like it’s a constant worry in the back of my mind. like i know the truth and i can rationalize it and realize who i am and what the hocd is doing to me but for some reason it’s always here

@kaysf Yeah my ocd is very high functioning. I can still go to school and do things with family and friends, but my ocd just always sits in the back of my mind. But I’m luckier than some people since my ocd isn’t super debilitating and such a downer on my life.

@imokay I can imagine, but realizing it as ocd is a good start, maybe you could apply those techniques you used with hocd to (try to) ignore this new theme. It's so hard to understand ocd, it really makes us believe things that we don't want to be/feel/think

@Itsme I feel like trying to manage this new theme is so much harder because it has so many different parts. Hocd is solely focused on sexuality so I could handle it. But there’s so many different obsessions and triggers with my new theme that I just can’t tame them all long enough to get over it.
