You see I don’t even think I am straight anymore and can’t even say that now with how strong my thoughts are especially when I see good looking men. Is there anyone else that feels they just don’t know anymore. I have been diagnosed with OCD multiple times but can it mean I am still Gay

i’m not wanting to overstep or try to make sense of a situation that’s not my own, but just consider this to yourself: do you enjoy these thoughts? do they genuinely arouse you? then you might have some conversation to have with yourself, and either way you will be loved and accepted. but, if you feel that the thoughts are tormenting you, based around fear, or disgusting to you, then it’s likely HOCD. it’s hard to distinguish but give yourself time to think whether or not you would act on these thoughts ❤️❤️

@pure093 no problem i’m always here to help. but one thing that i’ve heard that often helps distinguish between actual homosexual feelings and HOCD is whether or not you are sexually attracted to the same gender. if you would sleep with them or not. this is something that takes a long time to figure out, and just know this entire app is here to help if you need it. i’ve heard SO MANY hocd stories of people who were sure they were gay but they had HOCD, as well as the other way around. my HOCD just so happens to be quite extreme and very mentally exhausting, but it shows itself in many forms! try researching it a bit and you might relate to some of the symptoms ❤️❤️ if not, life is an experimental journey, and you can do whatever you’d like with your sexuality as it doesn’t define you. ?

@pure093 i saw a post on here earlier that said “gay/bi people don’t obsess over the fact that they’re gay/bi, it’s like their eye color to them”

So ultimately does any ocd theme mean we are what we fear? Can hocd people just be using this way of denial and simply can’t accept it.

no. i have hocd and i don’t like the images i see and the thoughts i get. i don’t want to have sex with the same sex, but i convince myself i do. my main fear is that someday i will find out i’m suddenly gay, and that’s why i do my compulsions, to prevent that from happening.

What compulsions do you do? You see I feel like I can see myself doing it everyday so is this just denial

so basically i tell myself “touch the table in three seconds or you’ll become gay” or if i’m listening to a song i’ll say to myself “restart it before the choris three times or you’ll become gay” if very accepting of LGBTQ members, and i’m not homophobic, but i somehow feel like if o don’t perform my compulsions i will suddenly become gay. it’s a very difficult thing to understand, and i have had other forms of ocd in the past (almost every single one), and i thought i was in denial as well, but i do my compulsions to prevent the idea that someday i will miraculously be gay even though i have no sexual attraction towards the same sex.

@pure093 HOCD shows itself in many different forms. i get very graphic thoughts about sexual encounters i do not want to happen, and my compulsions provide temporary relief. but, it’s different for everyone. if you are gay, just know that is completely fine ❤️ but consider both options. if you don’t do the compulsions but have the intrusive thoughts, it could mean you just have more of a grasp on it. but, i would say if you genuinely enjoy/would act on the thoughts, you might have to converse with yourself about that possibility

I mean they plague me everyday, kissing men, testing out, role playing, kissing walls, bending over.

in my case, i know i’m straight, but my mind constantly wants me to “prove it” , which is the exhausting part about this kind of ocd. i have no sexual attraction towards the same sex, but my anxiety revolves around the idea that someday it might happen out of nowhere, and i’ll lose control.
