I was on that thread and a lot of it does seem to counter what we know about groinsals and arousal, but not necessarily. Hocd can still cause groinals and false arousal/attraction because that is the nature of the disease. The thread was really confirming the possibility of someone having hocd and identifying as lgbt. Just because it is possible it doesn’t mean it is definite. Everyone is different and you can choose and identify however you want.

I had hocd for a while too and I was so scared then I just said fuck it and let go. Now that my mind is clear and I know that sexuality is on a spectrum I can acknowledge that I’m not 100% straight (no one really is) but I identify as straight. There are people just like me with similar experiences who choose to identify as bi or even gay. None of us are wrong about our labels. We’re all valid. Your label is your choice. Just let go. I know a girl who identifies as a lesbian but she still crushes on Zack Efron and Timothee Chamalet. Sexuality is grey and up to your interpretation.

Yes, thank you! I'm so terrified it is/or will happen to me.

I think it’s ok for people who are totally comfortable in their sexuality and ok with fluidity to muse over how sexuality isn’t black and white etc - but it’s damaging to hear for someone with HOCD; whatever the theme OCD likes certainty and likes to cause terror and fear over doubts, so reading this stuff is so triggering and for me has fuelled so much rumination. I saw someone say ‘I think everyone is bisexual’ like whaaa? Being straight has been such a part of my identity and I think sure attraction can be fluid but you’re essentially telling me I am what I fear and what I don’t want to be? Ugh it’s confusing

@Soph No I wasn't referring to bisexuality as a label as in wanting to be with the opposite sex. Being straight is part of my identity too, I want to remain straight. When I mentioned bisexuality I meant the fluidity of attraction. I'm sorry I put it the way I did. I didn't intend it like that.

@pure093 But what it feels like you’re saying is I should just open myself up and become comfortable with these thoughts and accept it?

@Soph I understand you completely! Of course I never ever want to invalidate people’s feelings, but maybe it could be that there people didn’t really understand what hocd was.

I can see how this can scare you but I would recommend trying your best not to read those. Just because someone else be same lgbtq+ doesn’t mean you will.

I think knowing now though that people can have HOcD and realise they are Gay is the big thing because every assumes that ocd of this nature didn’t mean we were. What gets me is you diagnosed with OCD and realise you ar Gay what seems to be the issue mentally, ritualising, compulsions I just don’t get it
