Good thing! Sounds like you’re habituating to them. Keep resisting any compulsions. Let the thoughts float on by without attaching to them. Live by your values. They will continue to lose power.

I'm going through the same thing but I feel like I am my thoughts. No anxiety, no getting triggered, just numb.

@hocd sucks Sounds like you’re accepting your thoughts as true rather than leaning into uncertainty.

@pureolife what does that mean?

@pureolife I've never been sexual or or romantically attracted to a woman, but hocd makes me think i am by false memories.

@hocd sucks Ah nvm then. You initially said that you feel like you are the thoughts. That often means people have started accepting their intrusive thoughts as true, regardless of if they agree with them or not. But now you seem to have solid insight that this is OCD and false memories. So I was misreading that statement.

@pureolife Some people do think they are their thoughts due to the manipulation ocd brings. It really sucks because I feel so numb :/ I do get trigger sometimes but rarely. This scares me because it's uncomfortable and I don't feel like myself :/ Have you gone through the phase?

@hocd sucks Sometimes numbness is our bodies only defense against the stress that’s on it. I’m sorry you’re feeling like this right now.

@pureolife I feel like the thoughts are true, but it doesn't feel right. Girls are really pretty, but never been romantically attracted to them. I think this is backdoor spike:/

@hocd sucks Are you engaging in any mental compulsions you could work on cutting out?

@pureolife Yeah, i imagine myself with another woman and it disgusts me

@hocd sucks Imagining yourself with a woman isn’t necessarily a compulsion. Are you doing this on purpose or is it an intrusive thought? When this happens, what else do you think/do in response?

@pureolife Search things up for answers, sometimes i feel anxiety, etc.

@hocd sucks It’s okay to feel anxiety. It’s also okay to feel numb. As long as you’re working to cut out compulsions in response to these feelings (like internet research, seeking reassurance, avoidance, forcing yourself to “accept” the thoughts as true, physical or mental testing, rumination, etc.) The thoughts will become less frequent, less jarring, and less meaningful as you do this. And ERP will also help a lot. Purposefully triggering ourself so we can practice response prevention so we know how to do it properly when it happens in real life.

@pureolife I'm not exactly forcing myself to accept my thoughts, but I FEEL like I am my thoughts sometimes even though it doesn't feel right. There's this ongoing fight in my head that won't stop and I barley feel an anxiety which scares me (Little to no anxiety). Thank you for your advice though!!!

@hocd sucks I’ve struggled with that too. But I remind myself that feelings are not facts. And I choose to embrace uncertainty: maybe I am my thoughts, but maybe not. Using this attitude again and again helped me recover over time.
