I know it’s hard. I’ve always had a feeling of “threat” from one particular ex girlfriend of my ex boyfriend. I don’t know why but I always pictured him wanting to be with her. Which made me trust him less and check his stuff. Always doubted him. There were few times he did something to make me feel that way too. I want to move on too but I’m so fixated on my ex. OCD sends these awful thoughts because we pay attention when the thought of our exes pop up in our minds. If yellow popped up in your mind, you wouldn’t give it much thought. But if say yellow was associated with your ex and you react, the OCD will keep throwing yellow at you. The harder you try not to think about it the harder it is to get rid of these thoughts. Try to focus on your new guy. The feelings of happiness. Things he says. The way he looks.
@Crazy.Cat.Lady you’re so right and thankyou for that advice I really needed that! Its so great to not feel alone with these thoughts. We will move on from our exes and find the best one out there I’m sure?
I’m glad it helped ? I think you knew what to do but just needed to be reminded. I always say things to others but so oblivious when it’s my personal issue. It’s hard to take your own advice for some reason. Lol you’ll never be alone with your thoughts here. I’m happy you have someone new.
@Crazy.Cat.Lady I am exactly the same as you with the fact that it’s hard to take my own advice yet when I help others, it’s so clear to me what they need to do. And again thankyou so much!!?
A little jealousy or fear is normal in any relationship, but when you start fixating on it to the point of obsession or crying about it, especially if there’s no proof, that could be a sure bet it’s ROCD rearing it’s ugly head!
Of course! We have to support each other in this community where the diagnosis is misunderstood and a person suffering mental illness is considered crazy in this cold world. We didn’t ask for it. It’s not like we were educated about it. It’s not like you can protect yourself from STD by practicing safe sex.
