I think this is common in OCD and if you pay attention sometimes this starts before the intrusive thoughts.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you had intrusive thoughts with this. Just that when your in an agiated state I think OCD can take hold.

oh okay yeah!!! i get what u mean. stress can definitely make intrusive thoughts worse :// but idk i’ve never felt this way before. im so used to feeling physical anxiety all the time. i guess my mind is just used to the thoughts and is fatigued from fighting them all the time. but i’m afraid that this isn’t ocd and that i’m just faking it

@zoya I think people with OCD often fear that they don't really have OCD and there something else seriously wrong with them. I know I do.

@ohnoocd2020 same! esp since the therapist i talked to today told me i don’t have ocd, just severe anxiety with intrusive thoughts. which doesn’t make sense bc that’s exactly what ocd is lmao

@ohnoocd2020 What type of therapy? How open are you with your obessions and compulsions? Even if you don't have OCD(which I don't know) severe aniexity is still a horrible thing to live with.

@ohnoocd2020 she said she does exposure therapy and i told her my compulsions are all mental cause i have pure o. i spoke to an ocd specialist before her and she agreed that i have ocd.

Labels don't matter as much as getting your level of aniexity down. If this therapist helps you do that who cares what they think of what disorder you have. If not find a better therapist. Labels are only helpful if they help you heal.

it’s not just a label though, it’s a diagnoses. and in order to get the proper treatment, i have to be diagnosed correctly. i just don’t think she realized that mental compulsions are still compulsions. but the other therapist did understand that. idk, i feel like i need to have that label in order to get a peace of mind

@zoya @zoya I understand where you are coming from. Sorry for using the word label, I feel like this was insensitive. I agree with you about mental compulsions. I just think that if it's helping the diagnosis matters less than the treatment. That's all. One of the best therapists I ever had did cbt with me and he never diagnosised me with anything. We just talked about strategies for dealing with aniexity and that helped me a lot. So, I'm not sure your hypothesis is correct. That said if you feel that this therapist is not helping or doing more harm than good get a new therapist by all means.
