Hi there...breathe. I'm just learning now that no matter how much family may try to help if they don't have ocd they wont understand...BUT that's ok bc I understand and those in this community understand. Talk to me..how u doing now?

I'm still panicking and my family still thinks I'm crazy, so not good. I just hate that theres no way to know for sure if I have it or not, of if he does. If I find out he does,then I'm screwed and will die.

@worryqueen Every OCD thought and obsession wants you to get that certainty, but the thing we all have to learn to live with is uncertainty! I know it’s super hard but try saying “maybe I do have rabies may I don’t.” And try and refocus on something else when your mind wants to analyze and research. This will get easier I promise you!!!

@dessann It feels like my mind has already made up the decision that I do :( I'lll try resisting researching about it, but I really hope I dont have it because of my phobia of death

You're not crazy it's just the ocd which is like a nasty bully. For moments like these what works for me is a quick distraction. ..reading on the app, hearing from others like me, looking up cute or funny things on YouTube and if you're up for it...try to work on what u have learned from the app. And if I remember u have a session on Thursday right? I think u posted that earlier

I'm trying to distract myself but my mind keeps jumping back to the thoughts of death. I have the overwhelming urge to go to the doctor and have them tell me if I have it or not, but I feel like I'm going to die before I do. Yes my appt is Thursday, and I'll definitely be mentioning this. I just wish there was a way to know if I have rabies or not... my dog bites people sometimes when then hit each other, which I tend to do playfully with my sisters a lot, so it's a possibility he could've transferred it to me if he's had it for the last two weeks. I feel like I'm going to die and I hate it :( death is my worst fear

I'm so proud of you for making that appt! So something I found helpful for therapy was writing down my thoughts bc when I found myself talking to my therapist I wouldnt address most of what i really wanted. Personalize this moment to make it fun ...I know fun is not on your radar right now and I totally get it... but what if you have pretty journal paper you can write down what u want to talk about on Thursday. Organize what u want to address so u can be even more super duper ready for the appt. Keep distracting...keep breathing...although family may not understand, I'm sure they love u and wouldn't let anything happen to you. Its gonna be ok...focus on that.
