Ok. We can be with you while you're scared, so that you're scared and have company

This groinal response is killing me, every time there a scene with homosexual, my heart rate increase, butterflies I stomach, scared, worried and then the groin reacts like I hate it but what if that’s telling me I want it but i don’t. A therpist on a app called better help who helped people with ocd said I should masterbate to it but I dot want to

@10lewis10 No one can make you do something you don't want to. You've done a nice job naming the sensations that distress you. Can you think of times you have those sensations that you interpret in a neutral way?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie Every time a show on tv and there a kissing scene of the same sex my anxiety raised the my groin moves and feels on fire but with girls it’s feels nice and wanted.

@10lewis10 Great. What about butterflies in your stomach and a racing heart? Try thinking of things unrelated to ocd

@NOCD Advocate - Katie When i see a girl I like the butterflies feel nervous but a good nervous you know but with this it’s more of a scared and worried my life will be ruined feeling

@10lewis10 You're still focusing on OCD related cues. Your body has sensations all the time, most are unrelated to OCD. For example, I sweat when I'm anxious about cooking, but I also sweat when I'm exercising or when it's 80 degrees out

@NOCD Advocate - Katie Yh but it’s the groin it moves and that disturbs me

@10lewis10 I get that. Just go along with me

@NOCD Advocate - Katie This therpist said if I masterbate to gay porn it will show if it’s ocd or gay. He said if you are you able to stay aroused and climax or ejaculate then your gay.... with ocd you will naturally get soft.

@10lewis10 If you give yourself sexual stimulation, your body will respond with arousal. In fact, if you stimulate ANY area of your body, you will experience sensations there- unless you have spinal cord damage. It does not sound like your therapist has expertise in OCD. That's the first and only time I'm answering the question about your therapist.

Tell me about times you have butterflies in your stomach and a racing heart that you don't interpret it as related to sex

Umm normally if I’m nervous for something like doing a presentation which I hate and don’t Want to do or a jump scare on a film idk

Good thinking. Those are times you feel scared that are unrelated to sex. Can you go a step further and think of times you experience those sensations and interpret them as a positive thing?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie A girl talking about me, when I was little when Christmas, girl liking my post, scoring a goal in football match

@10lewis10 Awesome! Scoring a goal, getting a gift, and someone saying they like your post are examples of times butterflies in your stomach and a racing heart felt good. The sensation was the same, but how you interpreted was different and changed the emotion you felt. Does that make sense so far?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie So there is good feelings and concerned feeling, so does the concerned feeling mean the thoughts are fake
- Date posted

@10lewis10 No, because you can't have a fake thought. If you think something, it's a real thought-but not necessarily an accurate one in reality. I can have loads of thoughts about unicorns. Those unicorn thoughts are real thoughts, but don't change the fact that unicorns aren't acual animals

What it means is that the sensation of butterflies in your stomach and a racing heart can be parts of a variety of emotions and arise in lots of difference contexts for lots of reasons. And sometimes they happen for no reason at all. Did I explain that in a way that made sense to you?
- Date posted
- 5y
Yes but how do I know if these thoughts are something I want or don’t like I feel like I know but what if I’m just saying that

Your OCD REALLY REALLY craves reassurance right now. I'm not going to answer it's questions. I'd rather help you get well

Ok fair enough what about the groin though like what do I do
- Date posted

@10lewis10 You let it pass without attaching meaning to it. Just like you do with other sensations. Maybe it's sexual, maybe it's not. It doesn't deserve your full attention any more than an itchy elbow, swaty hands, or butterflies in you stomach do.

It wants reassurance so bad it convinced you to make two more threads since this one to get reassurance from other people since you're not getting it from me here

Isn’t that denial though?

@10lewis10 I don't know. But from my perspective, it's rude to other community members. I appreciate how driven for relief you are. However when one person makes lots of posts in a row, especially on the same topic, it pushes other people's posts lower on the board and makes them less likely to get support. I'm NOT saying you're a rude person. Everyone does rude things at times, especially when we are desperate. That's human. Nevertheless, it's worth keeping in mind that the repeated posts don't just hurt you, they hurt the community

@NOCD Advocate - Katie Didn’t realise I’m sorry I’m just don’t want this anymore and I don’t wanna be here saying it’s ocd and it’s isn’t because that would be offending people to sorry

@10lewis10 It's ok. Most people aren't on forums anymore, so haven't had a chance to learn the etiquette. You're in a lot of pain. Pain is a signal to us that we need to turn inwards. It's just sometimes refocusing a bit of attention outwards helps us heal
