Every single time my head itches and a little oil deposit comes off when I scratch it I’m convinced I have lice. I got lice when I was a junior in high school but that was 3 years ago and ever since I’ve been terrified I have it. It got so bad once I spent my last $10 on lice treatment when I didn’t even have it. I used to wash my hair with lice shampoo every other day just to prevent it. I’ve noticed the obsession gets very bad when I’m highly anxious and then I just can’t stop scratching my head. The same type of thing happens when I’m too full or when I have a stomach pain, I think I’m pregnant. I know I’m not because I’ve had safe sex and I’m on the pill and I’ve had my period 3 times since I last had sex. Someone just tell me how I can stop spiraling myself into this

I have no clue how I contracted it the first time but that’s the first and only time I’ve had it and I studied it so hard the first time so I would know what it looked like if I ever got it again. I think with me being so old and getting it it threw me off guard. Glad I’m not alone. I convince myself I can feel it crawling in my head too. I also have dandruff and a dry scalp so I know when I’m thinking rationally that that’s the cause of it. Thanks for responding!

I wasn’t around kids at all that’s the thing. My head was itching for a long time like a week and one day I picked what I thought was a “scab” and it was a full grown adult lice but I didn’t know what lice looked like and I had been at a football game so I just thought it was from that. I found another one and put it in a medicine bottle with some alcohol in it to kill it and the next day I showed my mom and it was lice so we did a full treatment which took about 5 hours but it was finally all gone and I haven’t had it since. I’m scared I’m going to get it now because I’m in college and that would be a whole mess
