I don’t actually want to come out, it would do nothing for me but I get strong urges to sometimes bc my mind thinks I’ll be happier that way to just say it and become gay. I don’t want to, also not everyone with ocd gets urges it’s still valid we all have ocd differently we’re all in this together

I just feel like I have so much evidence to support it that after seeing that guy’s response, I’m only kidding myself. It’s like deep down I know I am too, but I’m fighting it. Does anyone else feel that?

I'm worrying about the same exact things. Everything feels too real the thoughts feelings sensations. I dont know who I am anymore. I know I want to be with guys just guys but what about woman?

I’m afraid too, but being afraid doesn’t change anything sadly. We are still bound by this anxiety. Also, we don’t know his full story and details so trying to relate him to us is pointless

I feel the same way don’t worry ^

it sounds like you’re seeking reassurance? maybe some people with hocd are really gay and others aren’t. if you’re experiencing hocd and are suffering because of it the best thing to do is just seek treatment through erp!! trying to find reassurance is a compulsion that just feeds the anxiety

i suffer from hocd as well and it’s the WORST i understand the anxiety. but no matter how much reassurance you get, ocd will always find something new to grab onto. we just have to trust the experts and seek help!

See you said some are and some not is really worrying me

@10lewis10 i understand why it’s worrying!! every person is unique and their stories with ocd won’t all be the same. this is what experts mean when they say we have to be willing to sit with the uncertainty. maybe you’re gay, maybe you aren’t. there’s no way to get 100% certainty where you never doubt it, and needing certainty and assurance only feeds the ocd and makes it worse. trust me, i’ve tried it for years.

@lms2000 You recovered from hocd

@10lewis10 no i am still not recovered. i just started erp and it still makes me very anxious. but i just know that accepting uncertainty is the key according to people who have recovered.

Same, I wish they never posted that bc now I worry it’s true for me too it really feels like it is and I feel like I’m suppressing myself

Thing is I have no intention or need to come out, like whe I get ready I do it for women, when I pocd on social media I do it for women attention, in public look for girl not guys however I do get anxiety toward same sex and it feels horrible and concerned feeling like if there were a wasp near you you get a concerned feeling it might sting, with women I get the same feeling I. Stomach but feels exciting so this makes no sense

Yeah I understand, I don’t need it want to come out either but I get strong urges to so it doesn’t help to see people come out it’s a trigger. But yeah it’s all anxiety, I’m sure you don’t like it and it’s not you either it’s just so hard to get over it I know

I’m concerned because I don’t have any urges to come out or try being with a woman, which makes me think this is truly denial

@wellwellwell That me as well but the opposite because I’m a guy, I think it’s anxiety of if because straight people don’t either so what does that say

@wellwellwell a big problem with ocd is that no matter what you feel it makes it seem like proof. you feel like because you don’t have the urge to come out it’s “proof” that you’re in denial, but people who DO have the urge to come out also feel like it’s “proof” that they’re in denial. it’s just a never ending cycle of thinking certain thoughts will solve it but they never do?

@lms2000 So true. There is no logic in ocd. I’m getting married so that fear is probably what keeps me from wanting to “come out” as I want to protect my fiancé and relationship. You’re right. Ocd will use anything and everything.

@wellwellwell yeah it’s like when the anxiety is the worst that feels like proof that it’s true but then when we start recovering and the anxiety goes away it also feels like proof. it’s ridiculous. i’m sorry you’re experiencing this right before your wedding that’s really hard:(

@wellwellwell It also takes innocent thing in the past like making your friends life with a joke and our minds go eww gay like wtf the logic in that so stupid

I'm almost 100% sure he did it as a compulsion. Because if you look at his history of this app he's clearly suffering from HOCD.

I did think it was exposure to see what so bad about it to expose a fear

@10lewis10 I can assure you we'll see him back here pretty soon with even more anxiety thinking that he's gay. If you go and look at his posts he's clearly not gay.
