While I empathize with your suffering and understand these are symptoms of a disorder, we do have fellow sufferers who are part of the LGBT community (myself included). I just want to be careful about rhetoric around eternal punishment for being queer.

unfortunately there is punishment for living that lifestyle but that doesn’t mean God doesn’t love regardless of the sin. i find it kind of offensive that you would try to push away this post because of its spiritual nature .. does it really matter that that verse and other verses would offend people? just because something offends you and others doesn’t mean that person doesn’t have the right to speak about the Gospel and it’s truth.

Sorry to offend, I didn’t think it was bad until you said something. I’ll take it down i guess once I know you’ve seen this.

I completely understand where you're coming from. But with love I respectfully disagree. You see, censoring yourself will get you nowhere with OCD. People who suffer from POCD feel the same exact way." I can't tell people what I really think because people are going to think I'm a ...". Young Christian men and women who suffer with HOCD have this fear of not going to heaven because of the way they think. That's their core fear. We need to shine light on that and allow room for healing. But in order to do that we have to be raw and vulnerable. That also means we might offend someone or make them feel uncomfortable in the process. But that is just how life is.

@Connie101 Sure, you can share what you want. But there’s the counterpoint that for many people, that exact sort of rhetoric is incredibly damaging emotionally to them. To tell someone that the literal creator of the universe would subject them to eternal torture for the non-crime of being gay is damaging, and deserves to be challenged.

@holley Yes. It does matter that someone chooses to interpret a Biblical verse than condemns someone for a fundamental nature of their character that also isn’t remotely objectionable in any way.

@NOCD Advocate - Carl Cornett i find that absolutely ridiculous

@holley You’re free to have whatever personal religious views you choose. If they make you happy or you find them fulfilling or enriching in some way, that’s great. Just because that particular ideology suits your wants/desires or that you find it believable or compelling, doesn’t mean that an element of that ideology (like the notion that being gay is sinful, and therefore, worthy of condemnation or punishment) isn’t damaging or harmful. There’s also people that don’t share your religious views. I, for one, have no religious affiliation and don’t believe that the Judeo-Christian god exists. So, sure, you can have whatever views you want. But I’ve seen firsthand in my own life the damage religion has inflicted on the queer community. For that reason, I’ll always challenge claims that being gay is wrong or deserving of punishment.

@NOCD Advocate - Carl Cornett i just don’t see how that is true. how do you personally view God? if you think He sits on a throne and dictates the world and lets bad things happen you’re wrong. i’ve seen firsthand how terrible our society has become because of the lack moral values. “Love is love” they say. people need to stop trying to be their own person and live life according to how they want to. religion is amazing. Christianity is beautiful.

@holley Well, I don’t personally view god any particular way because I don’t think there’s a god. That’s all besides the point, though. Love is, in fact, love. Again, just because you find it personally fulfilling to practice Christianity doesn’t mean it’s for everyone.

god knows what you are going through. he will not punish you for these thoughts. jesus has already paid that price on the cross! he loves you, there is nothing that can take away his love from you.

As a Christian person I completely feel you! I have religious OCD and I felt/ feel like anything I say wrong god is going to be like down you God. But here's the things to remember God knows you are human. He knows what you're going through. So instead of conviction, he and all of heaven is cheering you on. Like its going to get better keep pushing I'm with you. With that being said I hope you too realize that you are only human and become more gentle and understanding with yourself. Also read and meditate on God's promises for your life. Tell yourself peace be still. God will move. Meditation and deep long breathing sessions will get you through it. Okay? You got this!
