So I’ve had harm OCD and these days I’m thankfully at a spot in my life where having the old sick disturbed thoughts that was haunting me for the majority of my day every day are very much on the back burner. OCD never goes away and is not curable it’s only treatable , and beginning to accept your mind and not resist the thoughts is one of the first steps to recovery and and physiologist will tell you the same. Your problem is that your suppressing the thoughts and by doing that they come hard strong and actually worsen in time. Take it from someone who thought about harming his children in 2013 and got to s point just a year ago that I’d rather die than carry on with the mental torture of OCD and pure O. However to truly recover there are many things to get started in and being 100% committed is your only option otherwise you will live with this for the rest of your life. Challenge yourself to actually think about the thoughts. Create the anxiety and sit with it don’t suppress and minimize your compulsive behaviour. It takes time and practice but after a while it truly does start to give. CBT. ERP is critical in your recovery. Thoughts cannot hurt you, but your reactions to your thoughts can fuck you up . It’s not the thoughts that we have that get us into trouble and nearly 95% of all people admit to intuitive thoughts and the other 5% are full of shit. The only difference between someone who has an anxiety disorder and someone who does not is how we react to the thoughts. However that being said if you need help OCD anxiety panic disorder and related depression is a great book to buy in audible app and is 8 hours of fantastic info from a guy who’s been through it all. Also his dr is co author of the book and explains very simple steps to get yourself on track. OCD stories is great google it and sign up.11$ USA per month. If you let your thoughts be they will let you be ! That quote comes from a person recovered from pure O. Good luck and next time you have harmful thoughts ask for more. The only reason you have them is because your scared shittless of them and your questioning your sanity. Once you learn to not fear your mind it’s not that you won’t ever have the thoughts again it’s just that they will not scare you anymore and that’s the goal. Don’t set yourself up for failure be patient and learn to laugh at your thoughts. They truly are fucking stupid and completely irrational! Fuck OCD and the horse it rode in on and once you learn to get some of your power back the OCD loses its power. Best of luck

I don’t think the goal is to get rid of the thoughts, the goal is to let go of the reactions we have to the thoughts. Eventually, I think the thoughts lessen or may even go away. But the goal is to be able to have a thought without reacting with fear and doing compulsions.
