I didn’t overcome it yet I would say but it was one of my main OCD two years ago and now I barely have thoughts about it

mine is very recent, I started having a month ago. do you think that with therapeutic help or even medicine I can get back to who I was before?

@yo19six Here's the conclusion I've come to, as a fellow POCD sufferer; You're still you. You are still everything you were before you were triggered. You now just have something extra in the background, unfortunately. But if you're worried you'll never be who you were before (and trust me I have this same problem), maybe you won't be. Maybe you'll be a completely different person. Maybe you'll be someone BETTER than before. You have to accept that and move on. I know it's hard. But the key is to accept uncertainty on all levels and move on. I'm trying, and I know you can too.

@Eljaeee thanks for the words :) do you do therapy? what worries me most are the groinal responses during the check ...

@yo19six Oooohhh boy me too! Groinal everywhere. And no, I don't get therapy yet. I haven't been able to tell my parents haha. But yes it's scary.

@Eljaeee I didn't exactly talk about POCD to my father, I just looked for a therapist and asked him to pay because I needed it

I haven’t overcome it but it fluctuates in severity and doesn’t stop me living my life.

I am still in therapy and I’m in sick leave. I have experienced a very bad onset as I haven’t been diagnosed before 2 years with OCD. POCD one of the first ones that came up but I have a lot of others. I am doing better and I’m still in recovery.

in my case I am already 100% from HOCD, I hope one day I can say that from POCD ... we will make it!

@yo19six This is me - I find POCD very difficult to overcome but I will not give in!

@OCDMum87 are you doing therapy?

@lilac21 it took about a year and a half because I didn't go to the psychologist. I just learned to deal with the possibility of being gay / bisexual. POCD helped me to overcome this because now I don't see any problem being gay / bi, just being paedo.

I would advice you to do therapy. You’ll never be like before you’ll be better :) you’ll learn about yourself. Be aware thoughts that new thoughts can come in (POCD or another theme)

it is very good to read that I can be better than before: ’) Did you treat yourself with CBT + ERP? used medications? yesterday I went to the OCD therapist but he had never heard of POCD. I sent him several articles for him to read about, in the meantime I am contacting other OCD psychologists to see if they know about POCD.

@yo19six and did you have groinal responses?

Well that’s weird he never heard about it.. it’s a very common OCD. I’m still into therapy (for two months now) because I had a huge onset... have a lot of OCD that accumulated over two years and I went down :) but now I’m starting to feel better! I would advice you to get another therapist. I am doing therapy and hypnose, no medication.
