A lot of people from my alma mater moved to Texas. Not a bad idea. I like places with nice weather, as the winter and fall make me depressed (I guess I have SAD seasonal affective disorder)

You like places with nice, warm weather? So South Dakota is out of the question ☺?

This might sound like an ignorant question but I always wondered, is there anything to do in South Dakota? Not a mean question I’m just so curious lol to a New Yorker the rest of the US seems different or boring.

@Anxiousgirl ? No offense taken. Depends on your perspective. There's probably significantly fewer options than New York. However, our "biggest" city, Sioux Falls (my hometown), keeps growing and has a lot to offer. I won't say what small city I live in, but I enjoy it. I also know that people that live in even smaller towns find joy in where they live ☺.

@Ben84 Oh of course! I know people have different preferences. I am admitting my own ignorance. I just never hear anything about South Dakota so I don’t know what it has to offer. I’m glad you are happy where you live! I hope I am happy too wherever I move.

@Anxiousgirl I hope you're happy too ☺. I'd like to see New York someday.

@tella4 I think I'd dig it ☺. Not including the stereotypical sights, where would you recommend I go in New York?

@tella4 Thanks for the tips ☺!

@Ben84 I never saw tourist sites like Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty until my friends from PA made me take them lol. I guess it’s because I’m from there. Definitely try New York pizza (difaras pizza in Brooklyn is my fav or johns on bleeker street in Manhattan) and a good New York bagel! The village has a lot of trendy bars and restaurants as well.

@Anxiousgirl ☺?! We have Mt. Rushmore here, but I actually think the Crazy Horse monument and museum is better. The monument isn't finished yet, but the museum is pretty cool.

@Ben84 I knew about Mount Rushmore being in SD and I hope to see it someday! I feel like people are nicer in other states. I’m used to it, but New Yorkers are so so rude compared to other people and one thing I will have to get used to in other places is slow service and slow walkers lol

@Anxiousgirl People are generally really friendly around here. Unless perhaps if you're native American ☹.

@tella4 ☹ Yeah, and we were so close to electing a governor who might've cared too.

@tella4 Strongly red now, particularly the western half where I live.

Look into Knoxville, TN. We have the mountains and lake within 30 minutes from downtown. Downtown has grown rapidly over the last 6-7 years with many breweries and restaurants opening up. Crime is fairly low. I lived a few different places but always come back. What do you enjoy doing?

My company has an office in Knoxville! But I heard there was nothing there and there was a lot of racism (there’s racism everywhere though). Is it diverse there? And are there a lot of young people?

A ton of young professionals in downtown. I’m 27 and know several people my age-mid 30’s that live downtown. Not as diverse as New York but it’s not all white racist people. Definitely plenty to do here. What company do you work for?

I work for Discovery (the media company that owns discovery channel, TLC, food network, travel channel, etc.). I work as a temp worker for them and was about to be put on permanent staff and then the pandemic happened. Now they just extend my contract little by little. A lot of my team is in Knoxville so I’m wondering if they will hire there in the new year.

@OCDsucks Awesome! Discovery is a huge company and we have offices all over the world. I hope I get to stay with them. This pandemic is ruining everything!
