I don’t think I’ve experienced weight gain, i started taking 25 mg for the past 3 weeks and my OCD and anxiety randomly got really bad over the course of a week, I was just upped to 50 mg, I did notice while I was working I was even more hungry than usual, which is good for me because I was barley eating before being on medicine, I don’t think I’ve gained much weight since being on it though

@noone800 What would you say long term? Would be?

@Coul.C Sorry if this is too personal feel free to refrain from answering. I’m just wondering what you’re plan is long term in regards to taking medication?

@Coul.C Sorry I didn’t have my phone on me, what do you mean by long term. I don’t really have any plans to go off it if that’s what you mean, all I know is if I need an increase in medication I can talk to my doctor if needed. Hopefully that helps answer your question, if not just try to explain your question more and I’ll answer your question.

@noone800 Yeah that’s what i was asking! I just don’t want to be on it for the forseeable future. I want to wind down off of it if i can but i feel like that might be hard if im used to it ?.

If you already have a strained relationship with food SSRIs can increase your appetite so it can cause moderate weight gain. I’ve gained about 15 pounds. It’s a lot and I’m not excited about it. But I’m alive and last year I didn’t think I’d be alive. So it’s a bit of a give and take. Mental health is always more important than a little extra weight.

Strained as in unhealthy eating habits? Cause that’s definitely me ?. But you’re right life is much more important than weight. I just finally got to a place where im happyish with my weight. If you don’t mind me asking are you still on the SSRIS?

@Coul.C I’m not 100% better but it seems less extreme. I’m currently on Luvox, Klonopin . It made me really sleepy at first so I take them at bedtime.

@ThreeLittleBirds If you dont mind me asking (please feel free to refrain if you do not feel comfortable answering) what do you see the future being with you and SSRI’s? Do you see it being a permeant part of your life.

@Coul.C I don’t have enough trust anyone who doesn’t have ocd; enough to talk about my ocd. Which essentially means that talk therapy would be out of the question for right now. Medication has honestly done wonders for me. I used to vomit from stress, I’d have cold sweats every night like I was fighting the flu, my mind and body felt like it was dying. Medication basically helped me take it from a level 10 stress to a level 3. Now my ocd is manageable but still not cured. I still have to practice the techniques I’ve learned from erp and act.

I deal more with fluctuating weight, some weeks I’m up a few pounds, some weeks I’m up, I believe this has more to do with feeling more hungry because I am not as anxious! Best wishes.

@Cats98 Gotcha! Thanks so much for answering. If you dont mind me asking and if it’s not too imvasive do you feel that you being on Zoloft is a permanent plan?

@Coul.C Feel free to ask anything! I’ve been on it since middle of high school and I’m not a senior in college, I’ve personally chosen to stay on it because big changes often trigger my ocd and living away from home is def a big change! I would like there to be a day where I don’t need it as much, but until I have kind of a steady schedule and school is done I think it’s for the best! Best of luck!

@Cats98 Im also a senior in college. Thank you for your input. Scary thoughts to think of taking it and it not being good for me and causing my anxiety to sky rocket during senior year ? lol... but we will cross that bridge if we get to it. Thanks for your input.
