It ebbs and flows for me personally. Sometimes I'm in once a week, other times once a month, other times I'll skip months and go when I need it. It's a good question to ask your therapist. I've been with mine five years now and she trusts my judgement for when I need appointments. If it's any consolation, with all that's going on in the world and in my personal life, I'm back to weekly sessions! It's there to lean on and that support feels great. Congrats in seeking treatment, that is courageous and a huge act of selfcare!

Thank you for your input! If you dont mind me asking, are you doing therapy with NOCD?

@Ladyoftheleaves22 Np and no I am not, I found my therapist five years ago. She is an OCD Specialist. I had a previous one who was not and night and day the OCD specializing ones make a lot of difference. My first therapist said she could "handle my case" but turns out she was full of it. I am so glad to see something like this available, though.

Did you ask the therapist that question? I'm curious also.

Well my therapist said that there's other programs, like intensive outpatient programs, but im not sure if that's with NOCD or not. But when I spoke with a NOCD receptionist in the past, it sounded like you could get additional support or more sessions if you need it.

Oh OK. I'm glad you have a good therapist now! I had one too that wasn't specialized in OCD and it actually made it worse since she didn't know much about OCD.

Same, the unqualified one made it worse for me as welk. I didn't realize that until I finally left her. Mental illnesses are a real doozy!! I'm sure you'll find an excellent one here!!

@AMP2 They definitely are! My therapist on here is great. Just kinda nervous about ending the sessions once that does happen.

@Ladyoftheleaves22 I have faith that when your sessions end you will be able to handle and cope with your OCD better than you can imagine right now! You're at the beginning of learning how to talk back to all the 🐂 OCD tells you. You'll get that momentum going! I feel you though, my therapist is on vacation this week. I've had two major setbacks and I've been trying like mad not to email her (have succeeded so far! Next appt is Wednesday & it feels so far away)...so I have concerns for if there would come a time when I like don't have my therapist (does this make sense? I hope so!)

Thank you for the encouragement 😊 I'm sure it'll work out fine. Guess I gotta live with the uncertainty though! And I do know how that feels when the next appointment feels so far away, its kinda scary. But I am glad that you have such good support with your therapist 😊
