Worst part of ocd for sure is doubting your own memory, but you’re doing yourself a favour long term by not reassuring! Is there something you can do to help tire yourself out while you wait for your anxiety to settle? Reading a book always helps make my eyes feel heavy.

Thank you, you are so right. It’s like I get a moment of clarity and I’m can actually laugh at ocd and then it’s back again. And usually I play a word game on my phone until I fall asleep. I was actually almost asleep when this thought hit me

@0823 Strange as it sounds one day you’ll be able to laugh about this too. Our ocd likes to make us uncomfortable however it can but with time and practice those periods of time where you can laugh about it and have clarity will get longer and longer until they’re the majority of your life.

@JNDee That’s so true, I can look back at old thoughts and laugh at them because I was so worried over nothing, but then ocd says “yeah but this one is real.”

It does like to do that lol. The nature of the thing. How long’s it been since the last time you had a flare up like this?

It’s been a while, a couple months ago I had a mini flare up but this one feels worse, of course that might just be ocd convincing me that this one is worse.

@0823 That’s very possible. But a few months between flare ups is awesome! You should be super proud!

@JNDee Thank you! I’ve definitely gotten better at talking myself down and allowing the thoughts to be in my head, I think radical acceptance helps the most

@0823 How are you feeling now anxiety wise?

@JNDee I’m feeling much better, I still don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep anytime soon though. I’m still having the thought and some physical symptoms like shaking and feeling nauseous

Eating something to balance your blood sugar and reduce the nausea usually helps me. Do you have any snacks or food you can make yourself?

Hey, I did fall asleep last night shortly after answering your comment. Thank you so much for talking to me, it made me feel less alone and it means a lot to me, I really can’t thank you enough. I hope you’re doing well and have a great day

@0823 I’m so glad!!! I did have a nice day, thank you! I know I’ve been in your place in the past and I just wanted to know I wasn’t alone, so I’m more than happy to be there for you in whatever small way I can. 👍

Yeah you okay?

Thank you for replying. I’m going to be okay, and I’m trying to accept a false memory intrusive thought I have. It’s very hard and very scary.

@0823 Man those are awful. You sound like you know what you’re doing with embracing uncertainty and not trying for reassurance but it can be so so tough!

If you’re in crisis give Samaritans a call but I’m happy to chat here!

Who is Samaritans? I’ve never heard of them

@0823 They’re a helpline charity for if you’re feeling suicidal or if you’re having a mental health crisis. You call them up and they’re trained to talk you through it and talk you down if necessary!

@JNDee Ohh okay thank you! I’m not feeling suicidal, I’m just struggling with a crazy illogical intrusive thought/false memory. I just needed to get it out to someone. I know that the memory isn’t real, or the ocd is messing up my memory. But every time I point that out, my OCD goes “but what if??” And then I’m back at square one. I’m trying to just accept that maybe it’s real or true but I’m shaking pretty bad and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight
