Have you been in treatment? Sometimes themes can switch suddenly when your ocd feels like an old theme is losing power.

Omg are you serious with this? I just started treatment and started getting POCD thoughts after I’ve been doing erp for my other obsessions related to harm ocd

@Anonymous It’s scary but actually can be a good sign! If you’re making real progress in your other theme, many therapists describe this as ocd doing “on the run,” trying to look for new material because it gets desperate and wants to win your attention back no matter what.

No I have not unfortunately. My themes are switching day in day out, day 1 I have HOCD-alike thoughts and day 2 I have POCD-alike thoughts and so on. Im terrified I don't have OCD and that these thoughts are true. I'm so scared I'l act in them in the future. My libido is totally gone and I dont know if this is normal while dealing with these thoughts or not. I seriously doubt whether I'm going to be alright or not..

@FuckOCD Everything you just described is super common for ocd. As is fearing you don’t have ocd. I’ve been diagnosed and I STILL doubt if I actually have it sometimes. In your case theme switching is not due to treatment and that’s okay. Many people deal with multiple themes at once. A lack of libido when you’re highly stressed and anxious all of the time is quite normal and understandable. Don’t beat yourself up over this. Bodies tend to require a certain level of safety and relaxation to enjoy sex and sexual activities. Have you tried any ocd workbooks on your own?

@pureolife I am diagnosed by a therapist on BetterHelp. But one day I enjoyed being diagnosed and to know that I'm not a pedophile, a psychopath or gay (not that there is anything wrong with being gay), and the next day I already doubted her diagnoses. And I don't know if it is an official diagnoses, but she said that she thinks that I undoubtedly have OCD. I've read 'The Imp of the Mind' until chapter 4. After chapter 4 the writer wants to explain how to do ERP. I'm to scared to do ERP because maybe ERP will make it clear that any of these thoughts are true. I'm way too scared of being a pedophile, gay, or a psychopath or have a terrible disease

@FuckOCD Oooooh. You need to do ERP. I promise the results outweigh what you’re going through right now. Yes, you will feel anxiety, yes it will be uncomfortable, yes you will be uncertain. BUT, doing ERP is easier than living with untreated OCD

@FuckOCD Keep reading the book! Even if you aren’t ready to do ERP yet. I read that book and it was pretty good. An ocd workbook would also be helpful for practicing not just ERP but other CBT techniques like thought challenging as well as mindfulness. I know erp is scary. But you’re already scared. Staying in this place is worse than erp and way worse than recovery. The sooner you get started, the sooner you can see it for yourself.

Sit with the discomfort. OCD may be a lifelong thing. It might happen. Your thoughts have no meaning and they do not make you a good or bad person. Thoughts can’t make you good and they can’t make you bad. Thoughts are not facts.
