From my understanding of the HOCD SO-OCD is probably not. Although I do believe in denial people may have used this as a way to remain in the closet a little while longer. Remember if your thoughts cause you anxiety it’s SO-OCD. Being in denial actually enjoy the thoughts and the anxiety will mostly occur due to how civilisation perceive them. I also believe that the way the world now views sexual orientation that the HOCD factor will one day be a thing of the past. It’s ok to be Gay. It’s ok to be straight. The whole world knows this now so it’s something OCD wont feast on going into the future. Don’t ask too many questions on the matter and embrace it. I suffered from many themes of OCD and HOCD was one of them. I asked all the same questions and my HOCD only started to disappear a few years ago and now very rarely enters my head. I am a 38 year old male and have a beautiful female partner of 5 years now. Stop asking questions, accept your thoughts and it will ALWAYS eventually dissapear. Hope this helps 👍

I feel sorry for you both I really do. But the more you fight it the more you’ll think about it and the more you think about it the more you’ll most probably get false sensations. This is the only time il reassure you because reassurance really makes it worse. But Il bet my house on you both not being attracted to the same gender. Take a deep breath and start to think about seeking professional help. Life isn’t so black and white

@lypc My personal opinion is that from what I’ve seen and also have Been through that a lot of mental health professionals don’t fully understand the pure o side of ocd. My advice and it is just my advice is to seek out a different psychiatrist who specialises in ocd. I’m pretty sure if it was being in denial you would be looking at different things and not ocd sites. I battled with this and other types of ocd for a large part of my adult life. I was confused and unsure and diagnosed wrong. It does get better and easier to work with. Try and look at it as the anxiety comes to protect you from what your brain sees as a danger to who you are and not to look at it as it’s making you feel awful. Ocd of all types is awful especially as we don’t understand it ourselves. This NOCD site is designed to find you the correct help. There is a podcast in the uk called ocd stories and hearing other people’s stories can really make you understand your own
