I want you to think about becoming a gorilla. Visualize being a gorilla. Perhaps you’re wandering the jungle terrain foraging for food. Maybe you’re moving away from a competing group of gorillas. Perhaps you’re just resting on the tundra. Maybe you’re beating your chest to warn predators not to challenge you. Now I want you to think about that for a week as often as you can. Do you think you’ll become a gorilla? Why not? It’s because you can’t think yourself into something you aren’t.

Let me just start off by saying PORN WILL NOT HELP YOU. The second you use pornography as a dependancy and a coping mechanism it will do the complete opposite for you. Please, that's something you need to give up completely. Instead, develop new ways to calm yourself with these thoughts like breathing, meditation, and ERP.

@anonynon That's what I thought to until 2 days ago I found myself breaking down in tears because I interacted with pornography one last time. As of now, the thoughts around it sicken me and I can't wait until they finally go away. If porn isn't in your character, then you don't have to force it to be. Please find something as a replacement for pornography. This is only fueling your low self esteem/depression. Not only that, because you use porn whenever things aren't going your way, your mind is telling you that that's the only thing that it thinks can make you very happy. Your dopamine is out of place and that needs to reset. Think about it like this: You find yourself interacting with porn and in the moment you see that you're somewhat happy/aroused, but after it's all gone, how do you feel? I'm willing to assume you'd feel depressed, worthless, ashamed, and guilty after even engaging in the activity. Don't let pornography make it seem like it's good to use when you want to escape reality. Instead, deal with reality's problems in a realistic way instead of running away from it with the use of porn. Seriously, this stuff is real and it's damaging. I hope you get better and I wish the best for you

@anonynon I'm glad you agree that it's making you feel worse and you're better off without it. You've just accomplished the first step in getting better basically. Now all you have to do is find out what can truly benefit you when you have these urges coming up. I would recommend articles that focus on your issue to try and at least understand the consequences of how porn can impact someone and how like all addictions can leave you so impaired to reality. I have a reboot app that keeps track of the days I don't watch porn, a quote of the day, fact of the day, and a community like this one with people that can relate to you.
