Thank you! I’m so happy I’ve found someone who is similar to me! Ocd is different in everyone and I haven’t found anyone who is even similar to me. It’s nice to know someone else is in it with me! I thought I was extra strange for doing that

Hey. I have this too. It used to take me about an hour and a half to complete a whole shower routine. I would have to wash my hands every time before I washed again and sometimes even wash the bottle I was getting the shower gel out of. I won’t share my shower gel with anyone I buy my own and keep it in my room hidden so I know no one else has touched it! I have got my showers down to about 45 mins. It takes me about 40 mins to dry my hair because I have to wash my hands every time I touch my hair dryer. I bought a new one and now it doesn’t take as long but that’s not the answer I know that. I created a heirarchy on here to help me get it down and it has worked over time. I suggest trying it it helped for me a lot to keep track and push myself. I sometimes spoke out loud and repeated every time I washed to ensure I remember what I had washed and started washing in order bottom up to top x hope this helps you in any way x

Omg that is me to a T! You sound exactly like me! My therapist told me to try setting an alarm and wrapping up with my shower when that goes off! I haven’t tried it though bc I know I will just ignore it lol. But if I find something that works I’ll let ya know!

I used to have this problem, i had to wash my hands between each thing I did in the shower (like shampoo, conditioner etc), honestly I’m not quite sure how I stopped, but have you tried putting music on while you shower, I know music is a really helpful distraction for me, I kinda try and force myself to sing which helps me to focus on that rather than the anxiety I’m feeling. Hope this helps :)

I really struggle to do anything as my phone can’t touch anything in the bathroom as the shower is in my parents room which is dirty (I know irrational). My phone has a safe place on my desk. Everything I use daily has to stay as clean and my hands and self. It’s exhausting
