@Crassus1 It’s because as of now, at least, it’s not a fully tenable political position. Give it 7-10 years and the majority will be firmly behind it. Policy changes come in fits and starts and at a glacial pace, but it’s the long game that wins.

@NOCD Advocate - Carl Cornett Back in the 19th century Germany was already having both free universal health care and a welfare state (thanks to the great Otto von Bismarck) Can americans make in just 10 years the changes that they were not able to do in 200 years? The real problem isn't the absence of free healthcare... this is just a symptom. The cause is ofc other stuff that the government wastes money on that does not benefit the average citizen - for example "defence" (investing in the american war machine) eats more than half of the whole national budget while in other countries is bellow 10 percent. Ending wars and cutting military spending is a fully tenable political position. This kind of things should be done first. And then what should they do with the money they saved? Exactly what the people decide through the democratic process, that means either giving that money back to the taxpayers (through tax cuts like the economical Right says) or making health care available to all citizens (by establishing a national free healthcare system like the Left says). It's up to the people again. (but until then the military industrial complex is in control)
