I've been in erp therapy for a month. I've been in regular cbt therapy since June. I feel like I'm gonna be in therapy for awhile

That’s okay :) I was in ERP for two months and I still relapsed. Every one is different. Some people have an easier time succeeding than others. I hope you can find a way to relax this week and enjoy the holiday. Sending love

@sheeby Thank you so much I needed that encouragement :)

@sheeby My recommendation is to stop googling, and just handle it. Within a week I’m sure you’ll feel much better. I stopped googling yesterday and I already feel amazingly better than two days ago.

@Dre83 Of course. Reach out anytime. If I were you, I’d look at the dunning Kruger effect. It takes time to learn complicated things, you’re only in the pit of despair now, and you are on your way up!

@sheeby Yeah I agree. I know thats the answer but sometimes I just do it like a dummy. This to shall pass. You're awesome friend!

@sheeby Okay I just read into the dunning Kruger effect. What I took from it is that we over estimate our knowledge or skills so we don't look inadequate. How does this relate to ocd cause I don't understand.

@Dre83 I just mean the graph! At first we think yes!! ERP we can do it!! We got this!!! Then we enter the pit of despair when we realize how much work and how scary it actually is. Eventually we get to a point where we become experts in ERP and move on with our lives:)

You’ll push through. Maybe it’s time to relax and focus on doing positive things

Yes, I'm off the rest of the week after tomorrow which I look forward too. Medication is looking more like and option if I can't defeat this without it.

@Dre83 Try to just focus on doing things that you usually like, and push through there. Medication will help but therapy is the end all be all. You can defeat this. Progress is not linear. How long have you been in therapy?

I struggle with the number 6 too. But man, you know what, 6 holds no power. Black crows hold no power. It's just our thoughts attaching meaning to things. If you fight the thought, it's going to fight you back. So choose not to engage with it. This will come with time!

You are right this thing might win a battle here and there but it aint winning the war.

@Dre83 I also struggle with the number 6. You’re not alone!
