It was my fear as well. I was personally diagnosed and I still am not out of the woods. It doesn’t give you as much reassurance as you think. I will say that, by and large, if you are obsessing over this constantly and you weren’t like this before, you most likely have OCD. Also, if you truly didn’t, I am sure you would have come on here initially and been like woah what these people are talking about is not what I’m feeling. You wouldn’t be saying I want a boyfriend because it is part of my identity, or I want to be straight because that has been me my whole life. You would be like, I want a boyfriend because I don’t want to be gay because people will think badly of me or because I won’t fit in. That’s my take.

thank you. as soon as i heard abt soocd it all made sense to me, and it sounded so similar to my own experiences. i also don’t want people to think i’m gay not because i’m afraid of not being accepted but because i just really don’t like the idea of me being gay and i don’t want people to think that about me if that makes sense? i’m mostly worried that they won’t think it’s ocd because of my “proof” and how it’s blurry to me when it actually started, and most people say that it’s a clear memory like one moment i was fine and the next i was terrible.

i was diagnosed by several doctors and i STILL doubt that I have OCD. feels like i tricked them all just to hide my sexuality

ahh yea i constantly am wondering if i’m faking all of this and if i hadn’t known it might be ocd would i be doing the same things yk?

@zeep THIS. i feel like at the beginning I saw the article and so badly didn’t want to be gay that i internalized it and mimicked the symptoms until they came naturally. it’s a huge fear of mine

@missbluesky honestly- it’s a really scary thought. and i found out about it pretty early on, so i can’t remember having that many symptoms of ocd before i found out abt it. but i definitely ruminated and confessed and researched a TON. so idk

@zeep do you think i did that? do you think that’s possible? it’s been 7 years

@missbluesky if you genuinely think your symptoms are natural, and since its been 7 years i don’t think it’s possible that you were faking it haha, i don’t think you could keep faking for 7 years straight

Even with a diagnosis, you wouldn't be 100% sure it's OCD. That's the thing with OCD hehe.

Maybe if you decide to go, instead of talking about the specific theme start by talking about just having intrusive thoughts in general. Tell them about the thoughts and the compulsions. They can still assess you based off of that info and give you a diagnosis. Of course you’d eventually have to talk about the theme, but not necessarily to get diagnosed

do i have to tell them EVERYTHING? like every piece of proof, every doubt, every thing i obsessed about? because i kinda address/explain things as they pop into my mind and then try to forget about them, so bringing them all up would be super triggering and scary, also some of them are just really embarrassing lol
