And it’s making me not want to do anything at all. I feel like I’ve spent so much time doing compulsions atm and am afraid this erp might backfire because it’s too much for me rn. Then im scared its avoidance if i dont but im also scared its becoming compulsive if i do if that makws sense

Also understand if you think its too much now!! I would make a hierarchy of what scares you and rate them 1-10 how much they scare you and then start with lower ones! That is what I'm working on with my therapist!! Also the timer tool on here is good for that!!

@Anonymous Thank you for your help :) i think i may have explained it wrong! Its just hard to figure out if how im going about things is the right way if that makes sense? Like is this erp? Or is this a compulsion? Because if i dont do what i think could be a good erp i feel bad/guilty and don’t want to do anything and just want to sleep but if i do i feel like (magical thinking) bad things will happen! Im just scared if i do the erp i wont be able to handle it and will get caught in a loop of repetition since i got caught in loops today atleast 3 times but rhen i feel lame for not doing it

@Coul.C I understand tgat! I have some tougher ones I'm not sure if I can handle yet so I am waiting! And I don't think it's compulsive! I would say if I understand right, that if you want to look at number you dont like as erp but are afraid bad things will happen, then that part is thr compulsion, I guess!! So dont avoid it if you are only avoiding it because bad things might happen but if its just a scarier one and you want to start with something easier, then that's fine! Does that make sense? Also dont feel bad or lame for not doing it!! OCD is not easy and its hard to do alone but YOU CAN!! Also if you can try therapy, maybe try that!! If not I understand and I may be able to point you to some cheaper resources :)

@Anonymous Awee i really appreciate you helping me out so early in the morning (late at night) lol. My ocd is a moving target so at first i felt like by doing it three times that it would be bad since rn its stuck on threes and multiples of threes but now i feel like by not doing it three times it would be bad and im uncomfortable not doing it those three times? i was doing that i think atleast twice and got stuck on it to the point i didnt so my laundry. So i guess its a bit of both im afraid that if i dont do this now itll be bad and also that it might be a tougher form of erp but im just stuck on it and feel lame unless i do it which is where the question of compulsive comes in

@Coul.C But its not looking its more like doing and the action would take prob around 15 minutes. So youre saying that i should do it or i shouldnt? Sorry still a little confused on that part. Also i was in therapy just need to find a new therapist haha been lazy.

@Coul.C You're welcome!! I guess I am not totally sure either!! Erp can br hard to figure out sometimes! I would suggest maybe reposting your question tomorrow and getting the opinions of others too!! Maybe even from a nocd advocate!! They have always helped me a lot!

@Coul.C Yeah I would suggest finding a new therapist as it might help!! I am honestly not entirely sure but I would say maybe you could try one and if it seems to hard, you could stop? I am not sure though! I wish I could br of more help but I dont want to mislead you!!

@Coul.C Also if you go to exercises and enter one and start doing it, it will time you and check your anxiety levels.every two minutes!!! It also has an I need help button that says what to do if you feel too anxious!! Maybe try that!!

@Anonymous Thank you for talking to me. I think you helped me out just by having someone to talk to. I’ll repost my question tomorrow and see as well. I remeber my old therapist would tell me my ocd is a moving target so whatever i feel most uncomfortable doing to do, but since its too in the morning and i still get discomfort from not doing this erp asap i wont do it.

@Coul.C That sounds good! And yes!! I was having ocd trouble tonight too but then a couple people chatted with me and it helped so much so when I saw you ask for someone to reply I thought I would return the favor!! I'm so thankful for this app!! And that my phone did not die mid conversation!! (Its been at 2% this whole time 😌 must have been a God thing that's its still on)

So ive been stuck in repetitive i guess you could say rituals? And now im trying to stop them? But then i feel like doing it one more time would be good erp because it would be 3 times and for me thats bad ? Then im also afraid that it would be too much for me and have already been doing ocd like stuff for a good minute now and trying to do this erp would through me right back in the cycle because it might be too much for me right now? Now i feel like if i dont do the erp though im failing?

Not sure if this is compuslive because i feel off if i dont do it but feel like it’ll cause bad things to happen if i do the erp but i also just want to enjoy the rest of my night and do my laundry but i guess the feeling of guilt doesn’t want me to do anything before i contemplste doing it a third time again

I would say if you can probably avoid it all together!! I know its easier said than done and it will make you anxious (from personal experience)) but it will hopefully be worth it in the long run!

@Anonymous What do you mean by avoid it? Avoid doing what i think might be erp and doinf it a third time? Or avoid thinking if i should do it or not? Or avoid not doing it? (Thank you btw for msging me ive been in my bed feeling out of it because of this) (also sorrt for so many questions just want to make sure im understanding it right)

@Coul.C That's okay!! I understand!! I would say if your compulsion is to a certain number of times to May be not even tap at all. Is this what you meant? Something like this? Or something else? Also do you have a therapist to ask?

My compulsion is to usually avoid a certain number but i feel like i should do it as erp? Now that i had that thought i feel like i cant do anything till i do the erp

Oh okay!! I would say probably to look at the number until your anxiety naturally falls (without doing compulsions- avoiding it or replacing it in your mind, etc). I would also say it you see online or in something not to look away and do compulsions! And maybe if you can do one exposure session tonight and then stop or go to bed and do onr tomorrow! Hope this helps in any way!!
