I've tried numerous medications: Cymbalta, Anafranil, Luvox and Pristiq. However, the last 5 months or so, I've been on Lexapro 40mg and it's been the most beneficial as of yet, Anxiety has greatly improved, obbessive thoughts not gone however slightly easier to brush off.

Yeah Prozac for me too, and so far it’s worked better than the other medications. I went thru lexapro, Zoloft, abilify, and cymbalta and their either worked or made me feel worse. Bad news it’s a lot of trial and error before you feel better , hopefully it works the first time but if it doesn’t don’t give up. Each medication even if it’s in the same class works different for each individual. Just stick with it , take ur med consistently, and write down your feelings every day. You’ll find something that works.

I was on lexapro before switching to prozac. I'm very phobic of taking meds. I'm always afraid they are going to do something bad to me

Like she said trial and error I would be scared too we are putting things in r body that change r perception but we must try because we don’t feel normal

For me, Zoloft (sertraline) worked wonders, but it depends on your genetic makeup how you react to a medication.

@STARS Yeah I still take it and my doctor recommended that I start increasing the dosage again, as I am having more OCD symptoms lately. It really helped me though. I started feeling positive effects within a week, but it depends on the person.

I currently take 150mg daily, but it took a while for me to get to a point where the OCD was more impacted. The good thing is that it took the edge off of my anxiety within a matter of days/weeks, which allowed me to deal with obsessive thoughts better.

It’s not too good at the moment, but it was close to nonexistent for a while

Yeah OCD can really destroy your identity and life, but there is always hope no matter how bad an obsession becomes. Hope it works for you!

To be honest I felt the same way for a while , I felt like these meds prob left me worse than I was. However now I’m on Prozac and I feel way better than I did. Not completely better , but enough to function at a high level.

I can relate @Christina7311 I suffered with that obsession recently and I’m doing better with the encouragement of my mother, so I’m able to take my medicine. Mine is more of someone doing something to my anxiety medicine. So I would be scared to take it....
