Just accept that these memories happened but it does not HAVE to mean anything about you. Kids do a lot of weird shit. As a kid, we start to learn more about culture and the word and we are just trying to figure it out. I’m a lesbian and there were signs of me being gay as a child, but it is only applicable to my life story. I had a consistent attraction to girls for my whole life. I don’t know how old you are but none of these have to mean anything. Just accept that all of those things happened but don’t keep revisiting the memories it won’t help you in the long run.

All you can do is live in the present. If you’re brain is saying you have to be a lesbian tell yourself “OK, right now I don’t feel like I’m a lesbian and I won’t do compulsions. Once I’m at a place to stop doing compulsions I’ll revisit this” Once you’ve stopped compulsions it’ll be easier to see how OCD is feeding you bullshit.

@lilacwine thank you so much for replying, i really appreciate it. genuinely. when you say that these things don’t “HAVE” to mean anything, are you maybe implying that they would mean something outside of the OCD fog? Are these things significant enough to revisit if I come out of this episode?

No. OCD content is always fake. I was saying that once you are able to completely resist compulsions the content of the thoughts are going to be less scary and you’ll be able to see that these memories have no meaning at all. The hardest thing to do is to unlearn the notion that “All of our thoughts and our memories have meaning” they don’t. And you will eventually get to a place where these memories will not mean shit about you or your sexuality.
